No to the club option.
Yes to trying to sign him to a 1yr/2M deal. That way it's almost no risk. He's an impact player if healthy.

I just think relying on him to be starter is a mistake. I wouldnt mind bringing him back in a platoon situation but not for the club option. At some point he needs to prove he can stay healthy

I love guti as a player, but his injury history makes him too much a liability for that kind of money. Decline the option and try to re-sign him as a free agent.

My answer: Try to sign him anyway you can. He's an impact player.

He's the Percy Harvin of Baseball.

No...he just can't stay on the field. It's a shame, but that's the way it is with him.

I rather reserve that money towards resigning Morales. If Guti would like to return for a 1-2 mil contract with incentives to earn more then i'm all for it.

Lol love Guti but he's glass. His time has came and gone. Hopefully he catches on and does well for another club. I think we need to move on. I'll always wonder what could have been...

EDIT: Unless we can get him on the cheap. He seems loyal (you never know) but maybe he will go for it and feel that he needs to prove himself to the fans & Z for the contract he was given before. He is no longer an everyday player as far as I'm concerned though. Platoon yes.

I'm surprised we haven't heard about a qualifying offer or extension for Morales already.

Boras is a turd, so that might have something to do with it.

I agree about Guti, btw. I'm guessing the M's might offer him a very small contract with some performance incentives, though. He'd have little choice but to accept it if he wants to play MLB ever again.

I would take him back in a heartbeat with a one year deal at the league veteran minnimum. I think that he is still a very good player, he just hasn't stayed healthy for a few years. Though I would take him over Ackley in CF, but until he proves he can be an everyday contributor there is no reason to pay him like one.

If he stays healthy I think we get a .270 BA with 15-20 HRs and gold glove quality defense, if not, then we have a guy who doesn't make a lot of money that isn't playing. It would be low risk high reward scenario. I just wouldn't pay him that much, and I just don't think there'll be a market for him that would command any more money than that.

This will obviously be effected by who the M's would target in FA, but I don't expect anything big.

NO! I would rather see Ackley stay out there, and that's not saying much.

:wtf2:

He's a good player but exactly where is the Percy Harvin comparison?
