That’s the headline of this later-than-usual “Jeff Francoeur has figured it all out and is kicking butt and taking names” story from Stan McNeal at the Sporting News. *I mean, we’ve come to expect them when Francoeur gets off to his usual fast start following a chance of scenery, but late May is certainly an…

"If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it up on the scoreboard?"

Frenchy got locked in a bathroom by his teammates and escaped through the ceiling.

Why not? Enjoyed him for a few years at the start of his career. Fun player to watch then. Seems like a good guy. Maybe he can help mentor some of the younger guys and retire a Brave.

Or get cut in Spring Training.

Braves are in a total rebuild. They were last in the league in runs last year, but I have them optimistically penciled in for 26th this year.

I do look forward to seeing all these pieces that were acquired, develop. Fortunately, I like weed.

Yeah, Francouer has found his niche as a filler major leaguer on rebuilding teams. He was on the Royals when they sucked, and he was on the Phillies last year when they didn't have enough major league ready outfielders. They even talked about bringing him back again this year because he was such a nice guy and the younger guys seemed to like him but then they made some trades have some more outfielders almost ready. I'm kind of glad they didn't do that, just because I wouldn't want younger guys to emulate his batting style-the guy never met a pitch he didn't like. But I did enjoy watching him play the outfield-he has a cannon for an arm.
I'm sure the Braves are probably doing the same thing--bring him into camp, see if any young guys can win a job and if not give Frenchy a couple million to start with the big league club until someone proves they are ready.

He's one of those guys that is just getting paid to be nice to everyone and stay in shape. Even if he only gets the MLB minimum that's over half a million bucks. I don't blame him for not hanging up the cleats.
