This one is very funny. The Greens are asking for "leaders courtesy" for Liz May's replacement, in which the other parties wouldn't put in much of an effort to contest the riding. Traditionally, "leaders courtesy" applies when a new party leader needs a seat and runs in a traditionally safe party riding. Which makes it kinda weird that the Greens are asking for it not in May's riding on Vancouver Island (really the only "safe" riding the Greens have nationwide), they're asking for it in Toronto Centre.

Toronto Centre is vacant at the moment after Bill Morneau was scapegoated for the WE scandal. It's also been held by the Liberals since 1993 lol. The Greens have never held a seat in Toronto, or in Ontario. They only have three right now and two are on Vancouver Island (which is near West Toronto according to my bio but not actually in Toronto).

Good to see the Greens will continue being pointless.

FWIW Liz is particularly mad at Jagmeet because she "stood down" in Burnaby South when he tried for the 8th time (I think) to get a seat in Commons.



It's true that she didn't field a candidate but considering the Greens only got 1300 votes in the '15 election and Jagmeet won the seat there in the by-election where turnout was far lower by nearly 3000 votes I don't think it mattered as much as she thinks nor would the NDP matter much in Toronto Centre where the NDP lost by 20,000 votes last year lol

I haven't seen one Greens sign anywhere here. NDP ones were out there early and the Liberal ones (they're blue here??!) started showing up late last week.
