Significant, considering what a large portion of people alive today have lived through.

Can you imagine being born in 1898 in the US and you see the invention of the automobile around 1912 or so and that's pretty cool, but then you go to fight in WW1, then surviving the Spanish Flu pandemic, the 20's were pretty good and you started a family (had a baby boy in the early 20s), but then the Stock Market Crash hit in '29 and the Depression followed, you survive that, but then this Hitler guy rises to power and your son goes off to fight in WWII. Hopefully, your son makes it back from WWII, but then would be a pretty crazy first 50 years of life.

This senior legal advisor to Trump continues to embarrass herself - By the way, a FOX news poll had Biden at 50%, Trump at 38%, is she going to sue FOX?

No, can't imagine it. You'll just have to tell us!
:behindsofa:

My grandmother was born in 1912 and used to talk all the time about how "things just keep comin'". Every time things started to calm down, something else happened. Amazing thinking about how much happened while she was on the earth. Lived to 102, although she didn't really remember much past 1996.

Carnival to sell six cruise ships as bookings dry up

Can we start up a collection to buy one? I only need a couple thousand sq feet of it to make a BMX park. Near the ice rink, of course.

Seriously, though... who the fuck gonna buy six cruise ships?

When Jacksonville hosted the Super Bowl back in the mid 2000s, they brought in a cruise ship to serve as additional accommodations for out-of-town visitors. Now that they have moved the Trump convention to Jacksonville, they're thinking of doing the same thing.

Fucking cheetoh claiming he's made Juneteenth famous.
No one ever heard of it before him.

Just, just no.
I only know what it is because I watched Atlanta.

I have a feeling a lot of people had no idea what it was before recent events.

Yeah but what about those 2 months where I couldn't get a haircut and wasn't allowed to get sloppy drunk at Pizza Hut?

Same - I know it because Black-ish did an episode about it.
so in a sense he is right that more people know about it, but only because his government is so damned racist that it came to the forefront. So trying to take credit for educating the people on history is a bit tough to swallow.
happened to turn on CNN last night when three black dudes were discussing it, they were basically face-palming for 5 minutes before they could begin the segment.

1. some super-low cost company that thinks a bargain on a ship will be just the jump-start they need to make a go of it. Of course, they won't have the financial backing for things like sanitation and maintenance.
2. the McBarge is still out there somewhere (floating McDonalds restaurant from Expo86), they can group those together for a floating republic.
3. someone taking advantage of higher recycling rates in another state

LPC knew before the last election this guy was garbage, allowed him to run anyway and now he’s been charged with the exact garbage they knew he was up to.

I first heard about it in the late 90's. We had a party at our house and Mrs 43's college roommate who is Jamaican/English and her husband who is black said they'd be late because his family was having a Juneteenth (he called it "free day") get together in the morning.

Didn't hear much about it again until a few years ago. There's a couple things that go on around here.

The Gaetz thing is super weird, but I'm again uncomfortable speculating on homosexuality, especially when it's used as an insult.

But he's definitely hiding something, and it's absolutely gross to use the kid as a political prop.

(If he's telling something close to the truth, though, about "adopting" him, my bet is on it being a kid he had out of wedlock when he was very young, who came to live with him when he was 12. That would explain both why he felt emboldened to tell what would otherwise be an obvious lie--because there's a grain of truth to fall back on when he's called out--how he was able to "adopt" the kid despite the DUIs and such, and why he'd want to keep it a secret, since a kid out of wedlock likely wouldn't sit well with the Christian conservative portion of his base.)

government keeps track of adoptions from other countries.
In the three year window around when he said he adopted this kid, there was ONE adoption from Cuba, and it was a female.

That's why I'm wondering if the kid is actually his, where he wouldn't need to "adopt," because there was some kind of custody agreement in place.
