Counterpoint: If the Bloc MP is a racist, then not calling him one would have been out of line. Failure to directly address bias in government is complicity in bias in government and the harm it causes the marginalized.

The Bloc is nationalist and, by the definition of many, racist by its own constitution; it exists solely to push the interests of the “Quebecois” nation; ie white, “pure-wool” descendants of the French settlers who lived in the province before the British conquered it.

The problem is that even Quebeckers who don’t vote BQ still adhere to some idea of Quebecois supremacy compared to other Canadians and the Liberal Party especially would find it near impossible to win elections without their vote.

Because of this, major parties have avoided attacking the Bloc for their nationalism and focused more on their separatism. The difference today is that:

1) The Bloc has all but abandoned separatism for the time being.

2) The NDP realizes that they are almost hopeless in Quebec (especially while they have a leader who wears a turban) and are going to start pushing the nationalism angle to get Trudeau to alienate his voting base in order to dig at their plurality of seats and try to gain more power.

Of course, the true beneficiaries of this if it becomes a serious problem for Trudeau would be the Conservatives, not the NDP - if the next Tory leader is even remotely better than the last guy (which he/she very well may not be) the combination of the Liberals having to denounce Quebec nationalism, the NDP stealing liberal votes and the Conservatives making even modest gains in 905 battlegrounds could at the very least create a Tory plurality in the next election.

TLDR; Jagmeet may have just launched the next election campaign 8 months after the last one.

It gets kinda sticky though. When you get clearance, you are under no obligation to protect lies - true. However in speaking of how you obtained knowledge of certain lies you can reveal classified operational information.

If there is one specific lie they can prove is a lie, they can de-classify whatever they need to in order to prove it.

But proving there are lies here is secondary. Trump's base doesn't require proof.

He refused to testify during the impeachment hearings so that could be construed as obstruction of justice, I would think. Of course, he can claim he was ordered to refuse.

Bolton can't prove what he is saying is true...Trump can claim it a lie. Proof is classified. The whole basis of her argument is wrong.."the government must admit the information in question is true." No, no they don't. They call the information is a lie.
