To them, the season isn't over until they're mathematically eliminated. To us, the Giants were toast if they didn't sweep the D-Backs, I guess.

Exactly. Are we wrong or are they?

I guess both can be true, we know they ain't going to win, but the team has to keep playing for the miracle until it's literally impossible.

I still can't believe it's come to this. Oh well.

We are wrong.

They are professionals, and they play until the end. And that is EXACTLY what they SHOULD do. That is what miracles are made of. If they quit when it was likely over, they never would have caught the Maxi's last year.

Not sure that sitting the guys that put us in the current position to replace them with younger albiet unproven youngsters is quitting - i think this is where I think BB is too black and white.

While it looks like Reyes is a longshot, teams interested are the Reds, Red Sox, Nationals and Angels.

Would the current SS's of these teams be a good enough upgrade over Crawford? That includes Zach Cozart, Jed Lowrie, Ian Desmond and Erik Aybar.

Cozart provides pop and decent speed but average defense from the right side of the plate. Lowrie probably has the most offensive upside and is a switch hitter, can play multiple positions and plays them well. Desmond provides the most upside overall with a good bat, speed and great D, but he has struggled thus far. Aybar is the most experienced and is the fastest player of the bunch. Possible leadoff hitter, though has had a poor year (.304 OBP).

Would these guys provide an upgrade?

Cozart is a rookie with less than 50 ab, and is coming of TJ surgery.

Lowrie is about as injury prone as they come.

Desmond is garbage.

The only decent option on that list is Aybar. If the angels ended up shelling out for Reyes, then we better offer them Sanchez for him straight up. They both have one year left on their contracts, and serves both teams needs.

Agree re Aybar. Good, not great. Having a good 2011 for him with the bat, glove, and speed (27-31 SB). He is a good solution, only 27 year old. Your trade idea is a good one, too.
