Oh yeah....sad when Jagr broke his mark of 109 pts in a season.
To me JJ was a rental not a Ranger

He's kind of a hired gun at this point of his career.

I do believe he loves playing the game and he's still effective but by this point he's played for so many teams....

Well that was what we were all alluding to here with the talk of Carol Vadnais death. He came over with Esposito to the Rangers in exchange for Ratelle, Park and a virtual unknown. This put a nail in the G-A-G line of Gilbert and Hadfield centered by Ratelle. As others have stated, Ratelle was smooth as silk, and Gilberts team records aside; was the better player on that line. He was obviously a fan favorite, and when he left people were pissed off and took it out on Vadnais. His two championships with the Canadiens and Bruins kinda blurred the reality that he had some very good years with the Rangers as well; specifically the 79 run to the Cup.

Not to mention, Hank chime in here if I am wrong, but I believe all three; Hadfield, Ratelle and Gilbert played for team Canada in the 72 Summit Series. If I remember correctly; Ratelle and Gilbert were Quebec boys with Hadfield being the only Ontarian. And I believe Hadfield was more of a bruiser, happy to throw down when he first entered the league and upon becoming linemates with Ratelle and Gilbert became a pretty decent scorer.

They all made the team. Hadfield had just had a 50 goal season (so had Bobby Hull but he was WHA bound).

But Hadfield, Rick Martin and I think Jocelyn Guevremont quit the team before they played Game 5 in Moscow. I think it was sulk time as they weren't getting ice time?

Thanks. Gotcha. I knew you would have that stored somewhere in the back of your mind.

I was going to add they were too proud to practise knowing they weren't going to play, unlike PK Chelios the consummate team player.

But I chose not to.....

Carol Vadnais passed away over the weekend from Cancer.

Giguere retired and with that the last player in the NHL to have played for the Whalers organization.
Sad news about Vadnais. Definitely remember him from watching Bruins/Flyers and Rangers/Flyers games.
