Because it’s two different things. “Rights aren’t a contract”. Want me to prove it. The team has the rights to any player for 2 years after their contract expires with the franchise tag. If someone signs a contract we should say every single contract is actually 2 years longer because you have the rights to any player on your team for 2 more years if you franchise them? Absolutely not. Point proved.

If you’re saying “the rights to the player makes the contract 5 years” then we really should say they have a 7 year contract cause after the contract the team has the right to franchise them twice. Case closed. Rights don’t mean a contract.

Those rights ARE in a contract. It’s called the collective bargaining contract that ALL players are subject to which is different than an INDIVIDUALS own personal contract.

So they rolled over money before Foles opted out? Do you not realize how fucking moronic that sounds?

What would have happened if Foles didn't opt out?

And you wonder why we call you stupid.

They did not roll over the money before. They are rolling it after he bought it out. Why would every paper report that it’s saves Philly 2 million on the salary cap then? Let me guess... you know the cap situation better and all the reporters reporting it are wrong.
If Foles didn’t opt out they wouldn’t have got the 2 million in cap roll over saving. You really trying to tell me all the reporters got it wrong and they are all fucking idiots but you know better.

I don’t know why you have to continue to hurl insults when you are completely wrong.

Yep... so rookies sign a 7 year contract then... right? Wrong!
The option to extend a year are also a CBA and not in an individuals own contract.
That’s why the CBA mandates rookie first round picks sign 4 year contracts. But the exact fucking worlds verbatim still won’t sway you

with a franchise tag they dont have the rights without the player "signing it" making it a contract.
5th year option is included in the contract for rookies, making apart of that "one" contract. no other signatures needed.

If a player doesnt sign a fran tag. He cant get in trouble because he isnt under "Contract"

If a player doesnt show up to work under a 5th year option he will get in trouble because he is under "contract"

But they still have the rights to them for 2 years just like when rookies sign a 4 year contract they have the right to them for 5 years. You lose

Interesting

So the cap rules specifically say “All rookie 1st round picks must sign a 4 year contract” but I’m wrong. Uh huh. You fools are just crushed I proved you all wrong and you can’t handle it.

I can hurl insults cause I’m right. He call me stupid yet he’s 100 percent wrong

simple.
4 of those 5 years go into the rookie pool of the cap. (all rookies are 4 years unless Undrafted then only 3)
The contract is still for 5 years.

No he isn’t under contract. The have the right to extend him. So if a player signs his 4 year contract and the team says absolutely nothing can he come back a 5th year for the 5th year of his contract? Nope!
Contracts is for 4 years
Team has his rights for up to 5 years

Then why does the cap contractual agreement say all rookie first round picks are mandated to sign for 4 years?
Contract is for 4 years
Having their rights is not a contract

it is a 5 year contract.
if it was a 4 year contract when he came back for the 5th year there would be another signature for the 5th year.
this is all under one contract. Which makes it a 5 year contract.

just told you.
All drafted rookies sign 4 year contracts. that is what makes the rookie pool in the cap fair.
the 5th year option that is included in the 1st rd. players doesnt count towards the rookie pool. the 4 years is guaranteed. If the team keeps the 1st rd. player for all 5 years. it is then also guaranteed. But not against the rookie cap.
It is all in "one" nice contract for what? Yep. you guessed it. 5 years.

No it isn’t because what if he doesn’t get extended for his 5th year. Then he fulfilled his 4 year contract and can walk. You lost and are actually trying to override the specific words for the league rules. That’s literally what you’re doing. You’re saying even though it says they sign for 4 year you get to rewrite the contractual agreement to your own liking.

Having the rights is not a contract

Not only is this a great write-up on the current SB champs it's a reminder the rest of the NFL should be very afraid.

Oh and not to mention it address the difference between a 4/5 year contract. Add this to the collection of articles already posted for proof.

Well. No. That means he has been released. There is no walking about it. he is gone just like any other time a player is released.

He hasn’t been released he’s hasn’t been extended.
Just answer this one question and I’ll drop it...
We are talking contracts and the specific language says “Rookie 1st round picks are mandated to sign a 4 year contract”.
My question is WHY DO YOU GET TO CHANGE THE SPECIFIC LANGUAGE OF THE CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT?

It’s not a contract. It’s a 4 year contract with an additional year of rights if they so choose. “Rights” is not a contract.

But again... why do you get to change the exact wording of the NFL contractual agreement?
