Reason you saw 21:57 left in the second: with 1:57 to go in the first, a Flyer (Briere, I believe) tried to chip it off the glass into the Wild zone. He succeeded at chipping something off the glass - specifically, the rest of the glass. The refs consulted the benches and they decided to have the intermission early, and when they came back played for 1:57 skating the same way as the first, whistled the play dead, and immediately started the second.
The broken glass was 10 rows in front of me, one pane left of my seat. Nobody hurt, so I can safely say it was fucking awesome.
Terrible goals of the night:
Philly's first goal. Was under the goalie for 3 seconds, and I thought he had it covered. Goalie moves to verify he has puck and knocks it into his own net. It was terrible luck for the Wild, and I would probably agree that the whistle should have been blown.
MN's only goal. Any goal you bank off a defender is pretty lame. Still a goal, mind you, but lame.
Philly's last goal. Any goal Shelley scores is, by definition, preventable.
Shelley fought Matt Kassian maybe 1:30 into the game, and I have no idea why. Game got really physical in the second. Checking the box score, Clutterbuck was credited with 12 hits, and while I'm not sure I remember that many by him, I don't have the Wild numbers memorized like I do the Flyers. Somebody was definitely going nuts on the boards in both ends. The MN defense was otherwise pretty terrible. You hate to sound greedy, but we could have scored 3-4 more with the chances we had. We had two breakaways denied, a 3 on 1, and a whole bunch of broken plays in the MN zone. There are some games you can say you just dominated an opponent. This isn't one of them. Minnesota dominated themselves.
Expect to see the fifth Flyer goal on a highlight reel at some point. Was some great back and forth - even if the forth was an unintentional pass off of Briere's skate. Was pretty awesome to watch.
Meant to mention this, but yeah, it was pretty quiet. Announced attendance was 16.1k. The TWO ROWS in front of me were empty. I mean, there were times when it got louder, but I was there for the 2-1 Wild win last season and it was much louder. I think between the attendance (poor weather, Thanksgiving holiday) and the Wild not really making it a competitive game, the fans just weren't as loud.
