ev1 has games in hand on us.

we currently sit 11th in the east with a 5 point cushion over last place florida, and they have 1 game in hand.

I hope to hell they can get their shit together, and soon.20 games left for them, with most teams above them having 2-3 games in hand(fucking Bruins have 4).

IMO,they would probably have to win at least 15 of those to secure a playoff spot.

If we didnt have Bryz in net and had a goalie that could steal us a few games down the stretch i could see 15-5 but right now Bryz couldnt stop a beach ball which put more pressure on our fowards to score more and our D to pinch in which gets tiring over 20 games.

me neither

rangers currently in eighth with 28 pts and 3 games in hand. The Flyers already have to win 3/20.

Rangers have played double the amount of home games than road games so it may be close at the end.

Sounds familiar...

Hurricanes fire Laviolette, bring back Maurice as coach - USATODAY.com

Peter Laviolette is finished as the Carolina Hurricanes' head coach because the team's starts have been poor too many times over the past year.

"It's probably something we have visited three or four times over the past year and when you look at something that many times, you start to think there is something that needs to be changed," Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said.

"We haven't had good starts in games going back to last year," Rutherford said. "We've gone nine or 10 games now where the opposing team has scored the first goal. We get off to late starts. … We haven't been a consistently good team for 60 minutes, even going back to last year."

if he loses at home tonight, and especially if they start off down 2-3 goals in the first period. he will be fired before the lightning game.

title of the blog is ruined by the first real paragraph

On question one, the answer is pretty clear. Peter Laviolette is not responsible for the Flyers having their crappiest defense since 2007, the year they finished dead last in the NHL

yes he is. the players aren't that bad. they have skilled DEFENDERS, they are just asked to do things they're bad at.

now i'll continue reading :)

Simply put, the Flyers are not a well-constructed hockey team right now, and that's not Peter Laviolette's fault.

not well constructed to play fast paced, run and gun hockey, is really what he should say.

But the real debate we should be having is whether or not Paul Holmgren deserves to keep his job. The decisions of the summer of 2011 are obviously setting this team back in the interim, and only time will tell if the new core -- Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, Brayden Schenn, and Giroux -- is better than the old core that was ditched in the summer of 2011.

bull shit. its already better than the one that was ditched.

i dont know if i'm going to be able to finish this article.

the only questioning i would do of the richards/carter deals is the lack of a bonafide dman in the return.. i like all 4 guys that came back, but one of them should have been a dman. maybe the thought was that 7th pick would be a dman, they just couldn't pass on couturier (rightfully so IMO)

i love lavi, but this team does not fit what he wants to do, so if he's not going to change, they need to change him.
