Im not sure i like any of those solutions. I did like Steit and still do but he makes enough money where i would just like to pay carle instead.

id take streit at 4.1 over carle at 4.5ish, but i really dont see how the isles and flyers are good trading partners.. the isles need defense, the flyers need defense, and they're in the same division.. that doesn't bode well IMO

garrison or wideman would be my play (in addition to assuming carle resigns).. but that gets tight on the cap

Metzler wrote about Jets Tobias Enstrom yesterday as a possible long-term replacement for Timmonen. Looks like an offensive dman, though, to me, and he's small at 5'10" 180. I don't know if he fits team needs.

Enstrom was an all star and getting all stars to me is always a plus.

Even though Carle is 7 years younger??

IMO they need an offensive dman.. more important part of being an offensive type guy though is the outlet.. the flyers struggled pretty bad on the outlet in the devs series

but in terms of all around needs, i think they need a weapon from the point.. last season they basically didn't have one.. mesz lead the D in goals with 7, granted he missed some games, but with timonen being second with 4, they need more shooting prowess on the backend, which is the primary reason i want garrison.. though he played a shut-down role a year ago as well, and was pretty solid both ways this season

Voracek at 3
Carle at 4.5
Garrison at 4

total of 11.5, 8.25 in space + 4.9 from pronger = 13.15 so still 1.6ish in cap space to wiggle around with

hartnell.giroux.jvr
voracek.briere.read
schenn.couturier.simmonds
wellwood.talbot.holmstrom/rinaldo/sestito

coburn.grossmann
carle.timonen
garrison.meszaros
bourdon/gustaffsson/lilja

bryz
bob

i think that's the roster i would like to see.. i'd like to add another defensive guy to the 4th line, but if you can train rinaldo or preferably sestito to play solid defense, that line would be great

mesz and garrison can be the shooters on the PP, probably still want to have timonen out there.. probably go with hartnell, simmonds, giroux, timonen, garrison.. and then briere, schenn, couturier, voracek, and mesz?

giroux.talbot
couturier.wellwood/read

on the PK

i really like that team if they can do it.. and i dont think it's all that far-fetched.. in fact, i bet the most far-fetched is garrison getting 4.. i'd be very surprised if he gets that much.. if they can save some money there they can add that defensive forward too

and las, before we get into a spat again, i just put jvr on the top line cause i think that's what they flyers are gunna do, not necessarily because i think he should be there.. i would rather have schenn there and jvr on the '3rd' line, or voracek there and put schenn on the 2nd line.. i dont think jvr and briere will skate a shift together ever again lol

look at that depth though if they add just garrison.. 3 guys vying for the 7th d-spot (not including bartulis or manning).. 3 guys vying for the 12th forward spot (not including shelley).. just nasty depth, i love it

Just thinking about our dman situation. I like Edler out of Vancouver. His cap hit is something like 3.25 million. He is young and has potential to be an elite dman. I'd still draft a solid dman by trading up. Another option is Ryan Whitney. Like him although he is constantly injured.

As of now, I'm spot on in regard to this series. Before it started i took the Zkings in 5. It may be a sweep. Regardless, this series is over. Congrats to all of our former guys. Carter, Richie, Gagne, Williams, and the guys up stairs Lombardi and Hextall. Stevens is gone correct? Geez am I forgetting anyone?

Anyone against getting either Ryan Whitney or Edler from Vancouver? Edler has a small cap hit. I'd give it a shot.
