They would still be picking teeth out of the dashers.

That's one thing that's insanely frustrating for me to watch, at any level of hockey, for any team. Guys like Thornton and Bouwmeester that have the tools to get it done, but seem to get a little timid during crunch time are hard for me to watch. It's like a Corvette with a six cylinder, or soft core ****.

Pronger is still a buffoon, but when he figured out that he can't go around cross checking, slashing, and punching ALL the time, that he had to be sneaky about it or do it when it HAD to be done... that's when he went from a very very good defenseman to a great one.

It's not just about violence or penalties, it's just that little edge that guys like Crosby and Yzerman have/had to their game. That instinct when it really comes down to it even if they are clean and nice 99% if the time, if they really really have to they will hack and whack and do the dirty things necessary to get the job done.
