Hey, I'd rather give a new guy a chance than signing some over-the-hill retread to big dollars. Let's wait and see what happens before being a debbie downer.

Worth a shot. He's obviously got some skill with the puck (basd on his euro numbers), which is something the Flames as a team have lacked for some time.

Not sure he's worth a $3.7M shot but I like the fact that the Flames are at least going in a different direction.

It's only one year, if it doesn't work out, it's a minimal investment. Good on Feaster and Weisbrod to doing something that Dutter likely never would have done.

How'd that $2 million investment in Steve Reinprecht work out for the Canucks this season? Look at your own GM's record of late before casting stones, my friends.

needed to take salary back to get Booth.
I think they fucked up in that they thought that they would be able to bring him up for the playoffs,
but they knew from the get-go that they were burying that salary in the AHL.

Ballard / Luongo are really our only questionable deals on the books.

More info on the deal:

$3.775 is including bonuses. His salary will be $925K. Signing bonus is 10%, or $92,500 and performance bonuses $2.85M

Reality is it's no different than any "elite" entry level contract.

Except for him being ""elite"". :bolt:

All kidding aside, I think this could pan out well fo rthe Flames. If not? Well at least they tried.

Also, if this means saying so long to Olli Jokinen, well, I'm fine with that.

Cervenka was passed over in draft year because he weighed 127 pounds. Yes, 127.

wow

Erik Karlsson was 150 lbs soaking wet when he was drafted as a defenseman.

127 is pretty crazy though.

and what would your reaction have been if the Coilers signed him dash?

Not really knowing too much about him, I would have looked up some stats to get a little more info and also find out specifically how the contract is structured. This looks like a low risk and potentially good reward signing for any team, including the Coilers.

Put it this way, I think I'd rather have this guy for 1 year and a max 3.775 mil than Alice 'LTIR' Hemsky (who signed for 2 years, 10 million). Now that is worth laughing about.
