to a five year contract entension (right after he plays probably his worst game of this season) - lol

No word on dollars yet, but I'm hoping around 3.5m per season. Good signing by Dutter.

If it was 4m over 5 seasons I would have said great signing, but 4 mill per season? He's like the Dustin Penner of the Flames! :L

Dustin Penner - forward
Mark Giordano - defenseman

Dustin Penner - conditioning/motivation issues
Mark Giordano - no such issues

Dustin Penner - big salary via offer sheet
Mark Giordano - big salary via contract agreement

yeah, they are exactly alike

There was maybe a night last season when Giordano was the Flames best defenseman (i.e. better than Phaneuf and Bouwmeester).

/I think this was a done deal yesterday and Gio was nervous last night (hence the -3 in last night's game)

Wow. I really like Girdano but $4M seems a bit high to me.

I guess I'm just getting old..lol.

At least your guys got him locked up for a while Dash.

i dont see that comparison either

Giordano is a solid guy with some pretty good offensive flair and creativity and Id take him on my team. No other dman on the flames is providing any type of push in the offensive zone like he does. Like any dman, he'll get even better defensively as he ages

flames have the bad contract at the top end JayBo and the bad contract on the bottom end (Staios/Sarich) ... this one isnt horrible imo ... a little high ... id take Giordano over Bieksa

I just meant they aren't really worth their contracts. JMO. Giordano is certainly better then Penner though.

Sorry, my response was a bit dickish (filo is a bad influence). This pretty much means that this will be the last season for Ian White in a Flames uniform.

The only thing that concerns me about Giordano's contract is what it means for the Islanders trying to resign THE WIZ. He's already making 3.25 million this year & he'll be an UFA come July 1st. I doubt the Islanders will give him more than Streit at 4.1 million.

Staios' contract was Lowebellini, but a stupid trade by Sutter. Regehr isn't a bad contract (he didn't have a good year last season, but has stepped it up this season).

Most people thought JayBo was going to get 6+, and he now has to really step things up to come anywhere close to that money.
