Girardi will play Derek Jeter at the position he should have been playing for years...
He'll be DHing on Thursday.

Derek jeter is not good enough to last long as DH... very weird to say that since he is one of the best SS who ever lived and one of the greatest yankees who ever lived...
Jeter is probably the most overrated baseball player who has ever lived.
Might not be their fault, but when your name is jeter, the "captain" of Yankees, and he is receiving gold gloves everyone knows he doesn't deserve it doesn't help.He is overrated the same way as Tom Brady... Both were created by their team as much as they created their team... and both get too hyped, so there is no way for them to satisfy everyone...

Agreed, but you can not argue that he is not a HOF, and you can not argue that he is one of the best SS to ever play the game...
Top 25 hitter of all time? no way, no matter how you rateI love picking on Jeter as much as the next guy... well, actually, I probably enjoy it a little more than the next guy... but I'll agree with these statements.
Even the folks that call him over-rated do not (or cannnot) deny that he has put up impressive numbers for a long time. He is only overrated by Yankees fans that claim he is the best shortstop ever.
Everone else rates him as a great hitter (possibly top 25 alltime, depending on how you rate), average D, and probably cracks the top five for all-time SS...
And, that is pretty f'in good!
Top 25 hitter of all time? no way, no matter how you rate
People pick on Jeter because as a yankee he gets more ABs than everyone else who played during the times he played... and the more ABs the more runs, and hits... But lets not forget that he is a career .313 BA and .382 OBP... those numbers by themselves make him one of the best players of all time...

I just don't see how any one could have him around 25. I will say, a couple of his last 4 years really gave him a boost which I wasn't expectingThe people that think Pete Rose was a great hitter becasue he got the most, might like that Jeter is 11th.... And I said "possibly" - I did not say we'd all agree...
I think calling Jeter average defensively is giving him an awful lot of credit. His hands are good, and his arm is good, but his range is pretty miserable. Had he been a second or third baseman, I think he would have been average to above average defensively, but he has been consistently below average at short stop for his entire career.
That said, he is a very good hitter, and certainly among history's best offensive shortstops. Between that and his fame, he'll be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but I will hold off on saying whether or not he deserves that distinction until I see who else is eligible that year.
