Final Roster vs Game Day Roster

Looking at the guys they kept and let go...I'm struggling to understand who will make the game day roster.
The Team can dress 46 players for game day- (3rd QB being the 46th player)
Special Teams and specialist will be tricky- UNLESS they are planning to use some key starters for these roles. I'm a little fearful for depth on game day.

I'm assuming that Marquess Wilson will be placed on the IR able to return list- on Tuesday. So he won't be a roster spot early. Brain de la Puente is also assumed to not make it early in the season due to injury.

25 Offensive players- Minus Wilson and De la Puente= 23 dressed players.

With 4 RB's- And from what I gather from what I've read- ALL backups will be counted on in ST's- Draughn/Carey will be primary backup spelling Forte. And Perry will be used as KR/ST.

TE- I don't know if they will dress all 3... If they want a "beef" package then Mulligan will get the nod. And Rosario will sit. 22 dressed.

OL- I don't know if either Ola or Leno Jr. can play Center. (or if one the starters would slide over?) But without BDLP I don't know- do they dress both? Only leaving 1 extra OL

WR- Marshall, Jeffery, Holmes, Morgan, Spurlock- If they are counting on Spurlock to return kicks, and Holmes to return punts- then all will dress... Does Morgan make the Game day roster? Who would you rather have Holmes as #3 or Morgan and have Perry or someone else return punts- I don't think they sit Holmes?

Offense dressed: 22

Specialist: 3 Gould, O'Donnell, Hartson: total 25 dressed so far.

Defense: 25 on roster

DE: Allen, Houston, Young, Scott- I don't think Washington or Bass dress- 25 down to 23.
DT: Ratliff, Paea, Sutton, Ferguson
LB: Briggs, Williams, Bostic, McClellin- (Green, Jones don't dress- down to 21)
CB: Tillman, Jennings, Fuller, McManis- (Hurst doesn't dress- down to 20)
S: Mundy, McCray, Conte, Vereen - all dress..

Offensive players 22+ 3 specialist + 20 defensive= 45... One spot open for who?

Do you go with extra Olineman, LB, CB? Do all WR's dress? All RB's? Who's out?

Non dressed: Rosario, Morgan, Washington, Bass, Jones, Green, Hurst- Who get's that one spot?

I was sort of hoping a solid safety got cut this go around and ended up on the Bears roster, but so far, no luck.

They should be adding someone to the roster shortly- to take Wilson's spot. Hmmm Duke!!!

Last year the beef package included an extra tackle, not the tight end.

Yeah, no extra center is a concern, which is why I thought Boggs had an edge to make the team, at least until DLP returns.

Cant see going with just 4 linebackers, maybe if they are playing a team that will have them in nickel all game, but DJ and Briggs will need to show they can stay healthy, and I would rather see Greene running down to make tackles on special teams than an extra receiver or running back.

I hope the Bears can grab a decent safety or at least a decent DB to add to the depth. I just think they are a little thin.

I sure wish they could keep 55 players.

They just cut that particular tackle that they used in the Beef- I think it was more about the lack of a blocking TE last year. Who knows if Mulligan can do that or not.

Yeah- Green or Jones will probably get that one spot, I'm not all that sure all RB's make the dress list- but that's what I've seen so far. This is just odd.

I would say there would be a chance that we dress both of Greene and Jones with maybe Morgan becoming expendable I agree that I would prefer a LB out there on the coverage teams than an extra WR.


The other option would be that either Ola or Leno would dress and Jones sits it out, going in with only one backup on the line could be dangerous atleast this way if something were to happen to Garcia then maybe Long could shuffle into centre he played some in college off memory.

I hope that Holmes works out as punt and #3...that way we can get another LB or OL on the field.
And now word is that Brandon Hartson was just released and they are working out 4 new long snappers this week!!! Yikes!

Yea we have been spoilt for a long time with Patrick and we are now finding out how hard it is to get a decent long snapper.
