...starts tonight in Baltimore.

It features Clay Buchholz starting for us, Scott Feldman starting, and hopefully talking the loss, fir Baltimore.

Why this didn't post when I tried it earlier I wish I knew.

This is one series where avoiding injury is more important than winning. So let's play the benchies more than the regulars throughout.

STAY HEALTHY, RED SOX! :yahoo:

Ortiz is sitting at 29 HR. One more give him seven seasons with 30 HR & 100 RBI.

Pedroia is sitting at 99 career HR...

Saltalamacchia is sitting at 39 doubles. (Tied with Fisk & Varitek for most by a Boston catcher.)

Two wins and/or two Oakland losses clinch HFA throughout....

And BOTH NYC teams are watching enviously from the sidelines! NOT PARTICIPATING IN THEPLAYOFFS!
That should happen more often, IMO.

Only the 3d inning and we're into the opposition bullpen already?

Time to let the benchies get some preparation for the post-season. Agreed?

Tonight's starter for Baltimore will be promising 2nd year man Wei-Yin Chen, a 26 year old Taiwanese with a 1/276
WHIP in his 325 1/3 inning career.

Opposing him will be Jon Lester, who already has won one Cy Young Award and I am convinced will win more
in the future despite the doubts of posters on other forums.

Tonight's game being as close to meaningless as a regular season game can be let's play the benchies more than the regulars and limit Lester to 5 innings or 100 pitches.

GO RED SOX!

With Oakland's loss today Sox have clinched the best AL record and home field through the playoffs. No need to burn out Lester and Lackey these last two games. Let them start but keep them at a low pitch count.

At least we won't get shut out.

I HATE that even in meaningless games!

With all due respect to Timlin, that wasn't really a fantastic play by Drew.

A SMART one I could go along with.

Finally a LEAD!

Waiting 6+ innings for them is not my idea of fun.

DON'T GIVE IT BACK, RED SOX! :hope:

Need to remind myself this game doesn't really matter.

Blowing a lead is still frustrating, though.

Good thing we didn't actually need the win tonight.

Bye for now.

The last game of the regular season starts today at 1:30 PM.

Starting for Baltimore will be Chris Tillman, a 5th year man with a season WHIP
of 1.207 in a career high 201 1/3 innings and career 1.321 in 468 innings.

For us it will be rookie Carl Allen Webster, who chooses to goby his middle name
rather than his first.

Webster's numbers sofar have not been good. 1.902 WHIP and 9.55 ERA.

15 walks in only 27 innings! :gaah:

Think he'll be back in the minors next year? I do.
