46-41 is “no closer” than 42-28?

Where? In “Land of No Math”?

Florida has a lead in the third quarter in Baton Rouge.

It was over for Bama before halftime in Tuscaloosa.

Final scores don’t tell the entire story.

It was over by HT? It was 33-27, 39-34, and 46-41 in the 2nd. Alabama had well over 500 yards and 3 major mistakes.

I watched both games. Did you?

I didn’t watch Florida-LSU because it was at the same time as a UGA game. I know Florida had a second half lead and I saw Bama getting blown out at halftime in a game where the final score was a lot closer than the game really was

Just a short note on putting credence in polls. This is NOT a bitch about where Wisconsin ended up.

The team ranked #5 beat the team ranked #11 by 1 point on a neutral field. Does that mean that the teams ranked 6-10 would have lost by some fraction of a point? :noidea:

No. It means #5 is overrated.

Washington pounded Boise St. 38 - 7 in the Las Vegas Bowl even though the Huskies had two starters sit out due the them not wanting to risk injury before the NFL draft yet Boise St. is ranked and UW isn't?
I’m perfectly fine with UW not being ranked. They shouldn’t be, actually. But keeping Boise in there after a complete ass ramming from a team who shouldn’t be ranked?

:trash:

Yes, indeed. However, the score in the 2006 NC was fully indicative of the ass kicking.
Nah, that's not what we're talking about here. So tell me - is what you stated true for all games? Or is it just when Florida plays?

Sometimes an ass-kicking is just an ass-kicking, like the '06 NC. However, some games grant the loser a "nice try" TD or two at the end. Those kind manners are often found in the South.

Other times, something happens. For example, UF was ahead of LSUx in the 3rd when BOTH of our world-class DEs got sprained ankles. The moment Burreaux isn't harassed and contained, it's over...and it was.

Yet again, sometimes a team gets lucky breaks early...only to get swallowed by the better team in the 2nd half. OSUx had nothing for Clemson. Once the Clemps figured-out your D and isolated your offensive scheme, it was a route.

Still, I think OSU might have had a decent chance against Oklahoma if there was a runner-up game...maybe.
