Fighting Irish totem pole

So I have a friend that had a huge tree in his front yard that really served no purpose. He decided months ago that he wanted to do something with it. He heard about a guy that traveled all across the country, and even other countries creating amazing pieces of art from wood.

He contacted this guy and was able to set up a couple days for him to come create something. He knew what he wanted and the guy took it from there. He cut the tree to 20ft, but the entire thing ended up 30ft high(including the flag pole in which he proudly flies his ND flag).

One of the local news channel's producers lives a few minutes away and saw this happening. He decided to follow this story and will be aired later. My friend has not only had every neighbor come by and view it, but hundreds of others to stop, take pictures, and talk.

I stopped by today after it was finished and I have to say it is absolutely amazing. Her are some of the pictures:

Is this close to the campus? I've got to see it.

I have a hundred year old oak in the backyard. I could do this with about 60 feet of it. I'm sure my wife would be OK with it.

Not really. He lives on the south side of town, just a few blocks from the fairgrounds.

His wife actually ok'd him to spend the money to do this as log as she got to take a week long trip with her friends. A week without the wifey? I'd say it was a win win for him.

In the first picture, the scaffold obscured it somewhat. I thought it said "Trish." I'm thinking, that's a nice gesture to his wife, kind of tacky, but nice nonetheless. I also didn't know what this had to do with ND football. Then I scrolled down. Nice work.

He just had it done this past Sunday/Monday.
