This will be very interesting.

Hope he does okay, but I am dubious.

Hopefully I don't get attacked for being too negative here. :)

They said that they'll mainly use him as a DH against LHP, which might actually work. He has a .828 career MLB OPS against LHP. Against RHP he's almost .200 lower with a .632 OPS

What's his current weight? Will they have to install some reinforcements into the field to support the added stress?

Ha! I think that's being nice when it comes to Montero. I am honestly not expecting much but hoping for the best. This promotion is more about having no one left to call up rather then Montero earning it. Hopefully he is up to the challenge is this will likely be his last shot to prove himself here.

and the M's last chance to get anything of value for him if they want to trade him for some farm hands.

Best-case scenario is that spending so much time in the minors after getting a taste of the majors and bombing will make him want to prove himself in his limited role here and give the M's an offensive boost.

Hope he gives it his best shot and ends up showing he can at less be some what useful. Expectations are some what low, so if does any thing positive, that's a plus.

Time to can Jack Z. That article was right, he has no fucking clue how to run an organization and he's run this offense to the ground. Two of his biggest moves have ended up being complete busts in the Smoak and Pineda trades because he can't evaluate talent offensively. I'm starting to think he's as bad as Bavasi was.

Montero is 40 pounds over weight? Looks more like 10 or 15 to me. And if they are going to have him on the roster then they should play him. Sitting him 4 out of 5 games isn't helping him nor the team. At least let him pinch hit in late inning or give a chance to start against a right-handed pitcher. It's not like he's going to take the place of someone better than he is.

Dude, Montero, Smoak, Ackley, Saunders, (adding to the list) Miller, Franklin were all at one point top 10 maybe top 5 Minor leaguers according to those lists that come out. The problem is not finding the talent, it's converting that talent to the majors. Who's responsibility that is I dont know, ultimately Jack Z's. This org is just cursed.......

It's organizational incompetence from top to bottom...scouts, athletic trainers, managers /coaches at all levels, indifferent front office...you name it, and it's 2nd rate for this team, and has been for a decade.

Montero is a lazy fatass with zero accountability. He's a fucking kid like so many other "talents" in the M's minor league system, and neither his managers nor his training staff seem to hold him accountable for anything, obviously. It's not a curse or magic, it's organizational incompetence (coaches/managers and athletic trainers).

Ackley, Franklin, and Miller are all little pipsqueaks. They all look like little boys compared to real MLB offenses that have men. "Prospect" rankings are useless unless the kids get big and strong. A competent core of athletic trainers can make up for that to a degree, and there are talented scouts out there who are good at picking out which guys are going to fill out...one of the big reasons Trout was picked relatively low in the draft was because he was a skinny little thing and a lot of clubs didn't want to take the chance that he wouldn't get big and strong. There a degree of luck involved with this, but it's also organizational incompetence (scouting and athletic trainers)

Can anybody name an M's pitching prospect from the past 5 years who hasn't had a crippling injury that sidelined them for half a season or more? Pineda, Hultzen, Walker, Paxton, Ramirez, Maurer, Pryor, Capps. Injuries are part of the game, but when it's this pervasive for youngsters, at some point you have to look at athletic/physio trainers and pitching coaches for this, right, instead of thinking it's some mythical curse. Organizational incompetence (pitching and training staff).

I know I just posted a lot, and I apologize for being tedious to anybody who disagrees with me. But I think there just as much to look at empirically as there is to look at as far as luck/curses go.

I am on board for this one. There is just way to many "coincidences" with damn organization, top to bottom.
