NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 8 against the Falcons.

McCaffrey's outlook was always headed this way after he donned a non-participation jersey for practice mid-week. Mike Davis, who recorded 16/89 rushing and a season-high nine catches against the Falcons in the team's first matchup, will receive one more crack as Carolina's bell-cow (and low-end RB1) before reverting back to the bench. McCaffrey is expected to return next week against the Chiefs.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports a Broncos offensive lineman and Vikings linebacker tested positive for COVID-19.

This comes after the Broncos placed OL coach Mike Munchak under COVID-19 protocols Thursday. It's the second player case for the Vikings, who sent CB Cameron Dantzler to the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week. Both teams will need no new positive tests over the next two days for their games to be played.

let the luton era begin

Sports Illustrated's John Shipley expects Jake Luton to start Week 9 against the Texans.

The Jaguars have yet to rule out Gardner Minshew (thumb), but the signs point to them making a change. Minshew was already at risk of getting benched before his injury. Jacksonville likely wants to see what they have in Luton — the most efficient quarterback in the Pac-12 last year. Luton (6'6/224) has prototype size and could open up the offense more than Minshew (6.9 YPA). Jacksonville turning to Luton would potentially be a boost to D.J. Chark's value

I was only able to get Hasty in one league. Someone else got him in my other league. Niners could be rocking a 3-headed RB committee of Hasty, McKinnon, and Coleman, but I think that Hasty has the best chance of emerging as the lead back while Mostert is out. Maybe he is this year's Mostert.

Well I got Hasty in one league now. Based on your recommendation being a 49er fan. Hope it pans out.

You just don't want him to explode this week. LOL. Seriously, though, he's looked great running the ball. Check out his highlights from the last two games. The question is how many touches will he get if the Niners go back to using McKinnon and with Coleman coming back possibly this Sunday. However, I'm thinking that if Hasty keeps ripping off solid runs, then Shanahan would have to keep feeding him the ball.

I'm just waiting for them to rule him out already, so that I can stick him on IR and pick a TE to be Kittle's replacement when he goes on bye in Week 11. I would be dropping Coleman to make room on my IR, and I've been warned not to.

why would missing one game allow you to use the IR designation?

In the twenty first century, fighters seem extra fluid, more competitive, and in a crouched stance. Legs bent, body weight ahead on feet. Unlike the opponents of yesteryear, nowadays, a fighter these days makes use of his arms in addition to shoulders to difficult to understand and protect that route that leads right to the "kisser", or "button".
