Think us Bears' faithful have been down a lot longer.

The Jags have only been in existence since 1995 and have been to more playoffs than the Bears in that stretch. :L

True, I still think the Bears messed up when they ran Lovie out the door, same as the Rams when they let Martz take over instead of him.

Bears had a good team for a couple seasons there in mid-2000s

A lot of fans liked Lovie. Still do.
While I appreciated what he did for the Bears, the fans, and the city, I personally thought he was a terrible judge of talent.
Wanting to move Hester to WR was not a horrible idea. But sticking with it as long as he did was a mistake.
When Briggs, Peanut or Urlacher were out of the lineup, the defense looked much more vulnerable.
Just seemed like Lovie was riding the success of having those HOFers on the team.

In 2011 the Bears went 8-8. Yet they had 4 coaches on the staff with NFL head coaching experience - Lovie, Martz, Marinelli and Tice.
It all came to head the next season in 2012. Many fans point to that 10-6 season and question why Lovie was let go.
It was time.
And while the 10-6 record looks deceivingly good, the Bears lost 5 of 6 games in weeks 10 thru 15 and were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs after that loss in week 15 (with an 8-6 record).
The fact that they won their last 2 games to push the record to 10 would not change their playoff hopes. They were already done.

Hopefully the stadium sound guy for the Commanders is reading this (fat chance). Since the Cowboys play at the Commanders in 2 weeks, if I'm the stadium sound guy, Blinded By the Light would be blaring from the sound system every time the Cowboys offense is on the field.

I did try to contact the Commanders PR folks and the Commanders org via X about this. I don't even want credit for it. I think it'd be funny if they do it.

At least the Bears have won a Super Bowl since you've been alive. My Dolphins haven't. And that Bears team is still one of the all-time greats that people talk about. Yes it was almost 40 years ago at this point, but I'd still take that over just being good enough to not get a high draft pick every year. And yes we still have the only undefeated team in history, but that was before I was even born. I've known nothing but a lot of 10-6 and 9-7 teams and disappointments while wasting quite possibly the best pure passer in NFL history's 17 years as our QB.

Marino beat that Bears team on a Monday Night.

Kelly vs Marino were the glory days. And neither got a ring. That's just wrong.
