Oh, I agree. Not only is he turning 35 next year but he already has 22 postseason games which is probably on average about another year's worth of tread compared to many of the other top TEs when trying to figure out when the dropoff occurs.

His entire $17 million salary for the 2024 season is guaranteed and the $17.25 million for the 2025 season will be fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2025 league year

MPH speed on the field is a bit more important to Kelce's game than Tony G's game.

I strongly suspect that the plan will be to bring up Jared Wiley as Noah Gray's replacement and Wiley will eat into Kelce's production starting year 2.

hopefully KC can find a couple of guys that are fast to keep those safeties honest then. It would be perfect if they could get a WR that set the combine record in the 40 and maybe another WR that runs a 4.27 to offset any loss of step Kelce might have.

His lock as the top TE is slipping.

I'm not sure that's the question, since only 13 have more than one 100-yard season.

Of those 13, only six played at age 35 or later:

Gonzalez
Witten
Olsen
Sharpe
Graham
Gates

And of those six, only four had a 600-yard season age 32-34:

Gates
Sharpe
Witten
Gonzalez

How did they do in their age-35 season?

Gonzalez: 875 yds, 7 TDs
Witten: 560 yds, 5 TDs
Sharpe: 770 yds, 8 TDs
Gates: 630 yds, 5 TDs

Mind you, none of those guys have more than three 1000-yd seasons. Kelce has SEVEN.

Guy's probably still bankable for 800 yards and half a dozen TDs a year for the next two years, which would still make him one of the top TEs.

I mean, if you're going to use 1000 yards for a tight end as the gauge not many have done that ever, forget at age 35 or over. In NFL history, only 27 tight ends have ever gone over 1000 yards and only 13 have done it more than once. Kelce has 7 (should have been 8 if he didn't sit out week 18 last year) and nobody else has more than 4 (Gronk, Tony G, and Witten). I think he's more than earned his pay raise. Besides, he still has a long way to go to become the breadwinner in that relationship.
