You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.
Kelce and a 2-year "highest paid" extension. Dumb.
well of all the players getting that 'highest paid' at their position moniker, finally one who truly deserves itKelce and a 2-year "highest paid" extension. Dumb.
I'm sure if I was Travis Kelce's agent I would've been blowing up his phone to do this for years. KC has no leverage in this situation best I can tell.Kelce and a 2-year "highest paid" extension. Dumb.
Not saying he isnt deserving, but he's like 35... cant see him producing like he did going forward.
credit for 'time served" ?Not saying he isnt deserving, but he's like 35... cant see him producing like he did going forward.
Oh, I agree. Not only is he turning 35 next year but he already has 22 postseason games which is probably on average about another year's worth of tread compared to many of the other top TEs when trying to figure out when the dropoff occurs. Not saying he isnt deserving, but he's like 35... cant see him producing like he did going forward.
TEs can last. Tony Gonzalez was still producing at his usual levels in his last season at age 37.Oh, I agree. His entire $17 million salary for the 2024 season is guaranteed and the $17.25 million for the 2025 season will be fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2025 league year
There seems to be conflicting reports. I'm reading he is just getting 2 years and is the highest paid both years but nothing after that
MPH speed on the field is a bit more important to Kelce's game than Tony G's game.TEs can last. Tony Gonzalez was still producing at his usual levels in his last season at age 37.

I strongly suspect that the plan will be to bring up Jared Wiley as Noah Gray's replacement and Wiley will eat into Kelce's production starting year 2.
Very very short list of TE with 1000 yards age 35 or over.TEs can last. Tony Gonzalez was still producing at his usual levels in his last season at age 37.
Yeah but his threat of speed is what gives him so much separation underneath.he gets wide open all the time without using speed. sure, his YAC numbers will probably decline, but as long as Mahomes is throwing it to him, they have a special connection on the field.

He is elite. No question there.Wouldn't be surprised if Kelce was one them. Those are two of the all time greats. Maybe The 2.
I'm not sure that's the question, since only 13 have more than one 100-yard season.Very very short list of TE with 1000 yards age 35 or over.
LaPorta will be ranked 1 for me.Who you taking 1?
I mean, if you're going to use 1000 yards for a tight end as the gauge not many have done that ever, forget at age 35 or over. In NFL history, only 27 tight ends have ever gone over 1000 yards and only 13 have done it more than once. Kelce has 7 (should have been 8 if he didn't sit out week 18 last year) and nobody else has more than 4 (Gronk, Tony G, and Witten). I think he's more than earned his pay raise. Besides, he still has a long way to go to become the breadwinner in that relationship.Very very short list of TE with 1000 yards age 35 or over.
