I don't really know about "emerging" young talent on the beavers, but I do know about the healthy "experienced" depth of our O-line, RBs, linebackers, QB and D-backfield which is all a huge plus going into the season.

Any young talent that rises to the top will be the gravy on top.

PLAY BALL!

Jason Hall: Late get for Texas. He is now likely to be hte opening day starter at Safety for Texas.

Armani Foreman: smooth WR. Looking to be the 3rd WR. Maybe the most complete WR with the ball. He catches everything and is very elusive. Only thing holding him back, as with all fish WRs, is can he recognize coverage and block?

ASU is probably going to start 2 or 3 true freshmen on defense and another redshirt freshman once he's healthy. There are too many freshmen and sophomores on the 2 deep to name.

Tashon Smallwood is another undersized defensive tackle they'll play at 3 tech. About the same size as skinny vintage Will Sutton, wearing the same number even. He's quick off the ball. I don't know how he'll hold up against the run right away, but I suspect he's a Freshman All American candidate just from the production he'll put up gap jumping.

D.J. Calhoun has basically been penciled in as the starter at Will since he signed last winter. He's an Early Entry so he practiced this spring too and has been the leader for the job most of the way. If he doesn't get the job, his primary competition right now is another true freshman (Christian Sam).

There's an outside shot Armand Perry starts as the second corner. The other guys in the running are JuCos from last year and this year, but if he doesn't get the job, he'll probably be in nickel and dime packages. Another true freshman Chad Adams may play in passing situations early, too.

Marcus Ball won the starting safety job as a true freshman last year, then got hurt. He's been banged up still, but they say he's close to being cleared for full contact and the expectation is that he'll start and eventually be very, very good.

Ellis Jefferson is a big rs freshman who was in the running for a starting job last year prior to injury. Cameron Smith will probably start at slot after getting limited play as a true freshman last year. He's very fast. Ronald Lewis is also in the running at slot, another redshirt freshman.

Kalen Ballage is a big time size/speed guy at RB. 6'3, 220 and fast. D.J. Foster should start at tailback, but I expect to see Ballage and possibly also another true freshman Demario Richard getting some carries behind the aforementioned Foster and Deantre Lewis. Ballage might wind up being the bellcow by mid season if he can stop getting banged up here and there.

And there are others I anticipate seeing during the season. ASU is probably only going to have 5 senior starters. Corey Smith, Renell Wren and Connor Humphreys are all redshirt or true freshman DL that will probably be in the rotation.

Nope nope. Saban released the chart today. I'll post it on the Alabama board.

wow really?

1. Saban released a chart? Man usually wants to kick someone's ass for mentioning a depth chart.

2. All indications have been he was playing with 1st string.

He's in the 2 deep. He's good, but the past 2 years Saban has been reeling in serious D Line talent.

stole one out from under us- Ashawn Robinson. He gonna start?

and as for the depth charts and that Saban doesn't like to give them out: reporters here were in a huff because Charlie Strong didn't give one out today, as MB would do. Strong said,"we'll probably get one out to you guys later in the week." lol.
