Fair point.

I'm not entrenched in my musings on rhythm at all. As you've seen, I think there is much more wrong here than rotating backs or getting into a 'rhythm' (heh)

Thats fair. Im not really entrenched on my musings either lol. Just thought Id bring it up cuz it came across weirdly to me.

That's an interesting read

Could really take this a step further and say this applies to any situation in life ... the psychological effects of fear/faith that you're going to fail or succeed.

Like those bad days where nothing goes right ... you cant find your keys, you spill your coffee, late for meeting, everything seems to get compounded & you cant wait for the day to end so you can just start over.

The opposite is possible ... just remember where you left your keys, lol.

Its not luck that happens when preparation meets opportunity ... its having the mindset you just cant fail.

I just watched Shawn Springs on TV and he echoes my sentiments. When DJax and Reed come back everything should change. Safety has to be over the top, LBer or safety has to account for Reed. Boom the running game will open up. They aren't scaring anyone right now on defense.

They just showed a replay of the final INT and that CB never looked at Grant. He was looking in the Redskin backfield the entire time. Riggins brought up another solid point on the radio. Why is your hot read an out in an OT game? Carrier did run a little slant like Reed runs but he didn't get any separation. Make a mistake over the middle and even if you get picked you likely tackle the INTer. OT and a WR falls down, the QB throws too soon or wide and it is game over.

Also Gruden said that Grant was running a stop route.

Not sure what you mean by do you play basketball though. Not exactly a relevant piece of information. (Although I play pickup regularly)

just curious ... i would find it difficult to believe anyone who religiously plays basketball to not accept the concept of "being in the zone" or "being cold"

would think this would apply more to individual sports, like a field goal kicker in football, where you're not dependent on others. The falcons kicker, for example, hadn't missed all year ... then he misses two in one game.

Rather then being relaxed and doing what he's done a thousand times before ... he is tense ... & either consciously or subconsciously reminding himself not to miss again.

This concept of "being in the zone" is all about being relaxed & allowing your muscle memory to take over.

I know exactly what you mean Krush, there are times that I feel like I can literally fart the rock in, then there are other times where it seems difficult to hit the floor with it.

The zone is a beautiful place. Sadly it is not a forever place.

Well there's a lot of different situations. I've gone way in depth on this with a buddy of mine before but basically I'd say things like field goals and free throws might be different because they're so isolated and highlighted. A random jump shot not likely. Additionally a lot of it comes from the fact they're pro athletes. Steph Currys release doesn't get affected by wether he made the last one. Amateur players don't shoot a thousand times a week so that's not there which is why I think it's not relevant if we play.

You got that right. There absolutely is a zone. It's that place where you don't think, you just perform. I've seen it in every sport I've ever played.

I am technology impaired. Cooley broke the play down. You can find it on Facebook under Washington Redskins if you are interested in seeing Cooley's take on the game ending INT.

Really I don't think it matters, game over. Move on to next week.

There is no doubt they controlled the LOS. But go back to the series Dean is talking about. You have a chance to go up 8. So they ran inside twice for nothing, big surprise seeing as they have been stuffed all game, then threw a chicken shit WR screen. They appeared to be settling for milking the clock and being OK with a FG and a 4 point lead with those play calls. Dean and I would have liked to see them be aggressive, go for the TD starting with first down regardless of the clock, and have a better shot of playing the final 3 minutes with an 8 point lead rather than a 4 point lead.

they scored the TD anyway so what did it matter ? you force them to score the TD to beat you while a FG doesnt

exactly dgfan. some people on here don't understand situational football. I still believe going for 2 was wrong in that situation b/c of 8 minutes left. If there was 3 or 4 minutes left I would say yes b/c you might not get the ball back. But 8 minutes we are getting the ball back. That is a huge difference.

well dean most coaches would take a 3 point lead and running the clock down the call was one the majority of coaches would have made as i have shown in another thread
