Since it's the bye week and there's not much to talk about, I figured I'd start a thread with some Broncos facts that you may or may not already know.

Did you know that the Broncos can accomplish something this season that they've never done in their franchise's history? If the Broncos make the playoffs, it will be the first time they've ever made the playoffs 4 years in a row. They've managed to make the playoffs 3 times in a row 4 times, from 1977-79, 1996-98, 2003-05, and of course 2011-13. The closest they ever came to making the playoffs 4 years in a row was when they missed out in 2006. They finished 9-7 and lost the last game of the season to the 49ers in overtime.

What's interesting is that they nearly had a streak of making the playoffs 5 years in a row from 1983-87. They made the playoffs in 83, 84, 86, and 87, but an 11-5 mark in 85 wasn't enough to get them in. The Patriots were the last team in via tiebreaker over the Broncos, and of course that season the Patriots went on to lose the Super Bowl to the Bears.

Another fact: the Broncos and Raiders are currently tied for the most all time regular season wins among AFC West teams. The Raiders have an all time record of 434-378-11, the Broncos are 434-379-10, the Chiefs are 416-395-12, and the Chargers are 410-402-11.

In the playoffs, the Raiders still have the edge. The Raiders have a playoff record of 25-18, the Broncos 20-18, the Chargers 11-17, and the Chiefs 8-15.

Last one. The only AFC West team the Broncos have a winning record against is the Chargers (59-49-1, including playoffs). Currently we're worst against the Raiders (47-60-2), but we've nearly caught the Chiefs (53-56). That means as early as next season we could be even in head to head wins with the Chiefs. Keep beating them, boys!

Feel free to add any team facts as well!

Last year was the first time Denver started a QB in the Super Bowl wearing a number other than #7......

Broncos vs. Patriots was the very first regular season game for the American Football League, and Frank Tripucka and Al Charmichael combined to score the first official touchdown in the league.

Going back to 2004, including the playoffs and not including the current season, the Broncos are 13-7 against the Raiders, 13-7 against the Chiefs, and 10-11 against the Chargers.

Can't get over how terrible Patriots are this yr. Funny thing though they can prob still win div with losing record cause everyone else in div sucks. Miami is only one with a shot. Brady needs to bail while he still has a couple yrs left because the Belichek era is over. Brady looks like he could be done anyway too. His demeanor reeks " I quit".

Haha, you should post that over on the Patriots board, randymon. J/K.

I just started watching, but the Chiefs look like a dangerous team. I know, it's only 1 game. : D

Okay, so having taken this thread off track (sorry 6482), I will offer this fact inre: the MNF game.

This is only the 3rd time that a Bill Belichick coached team has lost by 27 or more points, going back to '98 and '05 I think.

Not sure if this is really a fact but there is talk that the Broncos would be willing to bring back Dennis Allen in some shape to the team. At least according the Schefter and he usually has a pretty good idea what is going on in Denver.

Not sure I would be on board for that.

It would depend what we would bring him back to do. If say he is a quality control person on the defensive side of the ball I would be more than ok with that. Heck I would even be willing to have him be the Defensive Backs coach if things do not improve in that area over the next few weeks. He was a decent coach for us while here. Not so much with the DL but our Defensive Backs showed some major improvement once he came to the Broncos.

Why not? The reason he went to Oakland is due to the defense he put together in Denver. I think he'd be worth bringing back as an advisor or assistant to Del Rio.

Yeah Walker, if he came back in that kinda compacity I would be ok with that. I really thing that D is looking better every game and with Trev coming back, I think their going to make even better strides. Not saying Del Rio couldn`t use some advice, cause I think he really could. Maybe Denver Brass feels that way too.

I really think he would be a great quality control coach. Usually they are the ones that break down tape for teams a couple of weeks in advance. He knows what Fox and Del Rio would be wanting for the defense as he has worked with Fox and Del Rio is somewhat a clone of Fox in my opinion. Couldn't hurt to have another set of eyes on the tape breaking down what a team likes to do.

Now honestly I don't think they bring him back this year. He is still getting paid by the Raiders and my guess is he will want a DC position at this point. Don't want to jump too far down the totem pole. I could see though if Del Rio and this defense really start clicking the rest of the season some team giving Del Rio a job as Head Coach. My guess is then Allen would definitely get a look to refill that position once again. He would not be my first choice as I like a little more aggressive DC than what we have in Del Rio and what Allen is but he would definitely make the short list.

Just an interesting fact I was reading today...Marshall and Irving have actually done a pretty darn good job in both the pass and the run. When the two of them have been on the field together in the Nickel (114 defensive snaps) the opposing offense has gained a first down every 3.45 plays. On the other snaps the opposing offense gained a first down every 2.86 plays. Now with getting Trevathan back this week those numbers should only improve even more. The great thing in the first 3-games of the season is we have seen that our linebacker core isn't as big of a weakness as we thought at first. Now getting possibly our best linebacker back (depending how you categorize Miller) should make this group very deep and ready to go.

Health wise in practice today only 1 player did not practice and that was David Bruton. McCray was on the sideline doing some work and is not expected ready for this week but overall this is the healthiest the Broncos have been in probably 2 years.

Another Fun Fact: The longest ever punt (and theoretically longest possible) recorded was a 98-yard punt by the Jets against the Broncos in Denver.... in 1969.

Holy crap. It takes a lot of imagination to figure how that could have happened. There had to be a lot of wind and rolling involved I guess. And a bad play by the return man.
