NYT reports that Nail Yakupov was a healthy scratch last night in KHL. That was Oil's fear, compared to starring in Sarnia.

I have argued for his right to play for his home town during the lockout, but that's fucking funny right there
looking forward to his dad's next presser

I'm sure the Russell signing was in this thread so might as well stick this here...

Jeremy Rutherford ‏@jprutherford
#stlblues d-man Kris Russell suffered a lower-body injury playing overseas. It's significant enough that he's headed back to North America.

scored twice to tie the game up (both times), and then the shootout winner.
maybe pressbox time was just what the doctor ordered

Does Yak lose a year of his ELC by suiting up in the KHL?

I don't know how all of that works. my guesses:

AHL - burns a year
CHL - doesn't burn a year
overseas - doesn't burn a year
prior injury - ????

Why wouldn't playing in Europe burn a year for Yakupov when everyone else playing over their would lose 1 year of their contract?

my goodness he has fallen off the map

Gilbert Brulé as expected released from his contract with Zurich. The former 1st rounder had no goals since start of season.

That great Oilers scouting department does it again. The next top 10 flop from the Oilers will be MPS. LOL!!

Doug MacLean says it was down to a coin flip between Brule and Kopitar in that year's draft...

At least the Blue Jackets got something for him. Sorry, but I can't feel sorry for any team between 2000 & 2007. My team made enough draft blunders to last a lifetime as far as I'm concerned.

sounds like a guy whos fallen out of love with hockey to me

News1130 Sports ‏@News1130Sports

Just talked to Marc Crawford the head coach of the ZSC Lions. Crow confirms North Van's Gilbert Brule left team for personal reasons.

Crawford says when your figuring out if you want to play some nights, you can't be wondering if you want to. Called Brule a good kid

Crawford says he hopes Brule finds some solace in his decision.
