Shit... 5.725 for about 60 pts. Yes he's young (is he still 19?) but really?!?!

they may be up to the cap for the next few years making him a prime target for poaching. it makes sense to me to get it done earlier. he is a really great player. I think its worth the risk

It's a lot...but they've seen his potential in spurts. Hard to ignore that. Still quite a hefty deal. I'd like to thank James Neal for his deal again.

I'm pretty sure that there will be another 41 sellouts at the Saddledome in Calgary (provided the season starts on time) - Anything to help out the good folks in Raleigh.

More than Tavares as well.

not quite yet
he's still at his original EL contract at 1.4M for the 2012-2013 season

Like J. Staal's, the extension doesn't kick in until next season, 2013-2014

THEN he'll be making more then Tavares. :)

Skinner and Staals extension/raises on't kick in to next season, which is probably how they could afford Semin for one year.

Next offseason could be interesting....

Skinner is now making more than Claude Giroux - I'm quite pleased though, as I think this definitely sets the bar for guys like Eberle and Hall. I wonder how Lowebellini is gonna pull this off.

Giroux a bargain now for sure, but something tells me the Flyers better take care of that business next year... or the offer sheets will be "flying" in come summer '14...

Much appreciated. Thanks, y'all.

...and could you buy a ton of gear too, please? We may need to re-sign Semin next year.

4 extra authentic jerseys per fan ought to help cover it.

What would you offer?

With Weber being the highest at 14 mil/yr & Richards, Parise, Myers and Suter making 12 mill....it would have to be in the range of 13-14 mil range over 10 plus years. Then again, if I have Comcast's backing like Homer/Snyder do....I throw a huge cash bonus at G and drag the contract down around 8.5 / 9 a year over 15. :becky:

Then again........if *******'s words are any indication.....looks like things are going to be pretty heated.

“What is all comes down to is, they [owners] want a bigger piece of the pie. Seven years ago they wanted cost certainty, they wanted parity in the league and locked us out to get it and got everything they wanted.

“… We’re not going to take a deal where Ryan Suter and Zach Parise sign $100 million deals only to take a 24 percent cut and get paid 76 million. I don’t know if owners were thinking that’s why they signed these guys to that kind of money, but it’s a little ridiculous to me.”

They probably should get that done before the new CBA comes out..

The more that I think about it. If RFA is extended, they can sign him for less for more term and see how the next couple of years go. I don't doubt that he'll continue to get better, but it would be more comforting to have that insurance.

If those guys are worth that much(only by pay),then how much are Malkin,Crosby, the Sedins,Giroux, and a few other elite players worth?

Completely agree.

cant. you can only extend guys in the year before they hit free agency. they have to wait til next season

barring a 100+ point season this year and being a hart trophy finalist, i think a 7 mill AAV will get it done. if it takes 8.5 though, i still do it
