Even if Trump declassified the documents, and there is no evidence of this other than his word after he was caught, that does not change the content. These were some of our most guarded secrets and they sat in a golf resort and that is a huge issue.

And then we have the case of Trump lying to authorities when they were simply dong their job and trying to get FORMER President Trump to return the documents he was no longer allowed by law to possess as a private citizen. That's obstruction an Biden never did anything like that.

Trump forced them to do this raid because again they asked him to comply for over a year. They did not have the time, or should not have had to wait, for the courts to act. They needed them back. Guess you are just fine with that behavior, but only because it's Donald Trump. Had Biden refused to turn over his documents you would be screaming about it nonstop.

again basic understanding of our constitution would help here . TRUMP doesnt have to prove anything the govt does . there is no process a president has to go through by law to declassify a document . the FBI was sent there as a photo op to embarrass Trump and hoping they can convict him of a felony in a bogus DC court to keep him from running .

He didn’t lie, he just knowingly deceived so as to affect elections……and if you think that his delay in releasing the findings was anything else, you cant be credible.

When I worked with Classified stuff, the big thing they warned us about was being sloppy and careless. That stuff had to be locked up in a secure container. You know this wasn't.

We need more bi-partisan cooperation...not entrenched politicians who are simply carrying out orders of the party. I swear I am watching "Dr. Zhivago" sometimes. And he surely is not allowed by law to attempt to conceal them and then lie about their return. That is called obstruction and that's a crime. A very serious crime. I don't think he will be charged for a crime for the reasons I mentioned, intent matters when they apply the law. I think there's a big difference between not revealing the truth to voters before midterm and openly lying to federal authorities about top secret documents. I would think that would be obvious. Biden never lied, not releasing info is not lying. Trump however lied.

I prefer to discuss with you as you're the most sensible poster in this thread but I think we're pretty much done here. One last thought on not revealing this scandal before the midterms.

I'm actually not so opposed to that after all, just as I totally understood why the DOJ would not indict Trump, if that was their plan, before the midterms. I don't think it's fair to have elections determined by scandals not involving the candidates. Is it fair that a candidate running for the House in Michigan, Republican or Democrat, to lose a close, hard fought election because some idiot former President of Vice President was reckless with sensitive documents? Why should that candidate lose an election over something here she had nothing to do with, does that sound fair?
