I understand the sentiment on Talib, but I can also see JE keeping him for one more year or asking him to restructure in order to attempt to keep the secondary together for a while longer. Talib is not quite at the age where you start losing a step, in fact, he is still in his prime for at least a year or so more. Also, as of right now, we have approximately $36m in cap space next year (this is accounting for rollover money so may decrease or may even increase if we see a larger increase in the cap than expected) with almost the entire roster already accounted for, exceptions being Stewart, Webster, Williams, Ware, Walker and 2017 draft picks. Yes, they would chew up a good portion of that money if all were signed, but not all of it.

True. What I see happening though is Talib being suspended for possibly 8-games to start the season. So if that happens you still have to figure out something to do for this secondary. So I would rather save that money and put it maybe towards one or both of our Corners in Webster and Roby or maybe the DL or so that we can keep a guy like Okung and not have to worry about the LT position.

In my opinion it would maximize the talent across the line. I am for Crick being depth, he has enough talent for that. I am just unsure if he has the talent to continue being the teams best option to hold down the LDE spot.

Yeah I have my concerns for sure of him as our starter. I'm just hoping that Gotsis gets up to speed much quicker than people think he will. The Broncos though I think showed how they feel about Gotsis by only letting him play I think 3 plays this past week.

Now beyond this year I would love to see the Broncos bring back Vance Walker. We have no clue how he will recover from the ACL but he will be cheap because of the injury and from what I understand he was having maybe the best camp of any DL player on our team. Knows our system so no needing for him to learn the playbook. Gives us if nothing else quality depth across the DL.

If you look at Elways mentality especially the last few years, that a strong run game and D is the key to Championships, it would make sense to focus on O- line and Defense in the draft as long as you still have a good core at the skill positions. Seeing as DT, Sanders and CJ are now locked in for a few yrs and I think their pretty comfortable with the Qb position also, expect next draft to be heavy on O and D line, back end

This will definitely be an interesting draft. Broncos have so many options they could explore. And you are right we have our core skill position players locked in for the next 4-years so allows us to focus elsewhere. Elway though still loves to focus on those core positions of Corner, LT, QB, OLB, DE/DT being the positions he is willing to spend a 1st round pick on. Most of those have a long-term solution though. Plus you add in having 5 of the first 100 draft picks. We could see the Broncos move around quite a bit.

Even though I think Elway is comfortable with the two Qbs he has at this point anyway, you know he loves to find diamonds in the ruff plus he needs/ likes competition there for backup role. I can definitely see him moving around quite a bit especially if someone to good to be true falls within reach in rd 1 that he converts but didn't think would drop close to pick 32 :)

With 10 overall picks in this draft I would bet serious cash that Elway does at least a slight bit of moving around in the draft and would not be surprised at all to see him move up in the first round, well, that is if what he is looking for is still there and worth it to do so. As JE has said before, this is a talented roster and there is just not going to be enough room for all of these picks. Though, I am still pissed that he traded away Mr Irrelevant last year.

I love what you are throwing down. Honestly we will probably draft another QB in this upcoming draft. They will be a 5th round or later pick though. Mostly a guy that can run the scout team as honestly that is a valuable position to help train the defense to be ready for the season. Also need that 3rd QB either on the roster or on the PS just in case of injury.

And really as we have seen so far Elway has done well with QB's. Manning was an easy choice but it was still one with lots of risk considering his injury before we signed him. Brock now is a starter in this league. His 7th round pick Siemian is our starter and didn't look too bad. Then our 1st round pick has left a lot of people impressed with his growth up to this point. And heck even Dysert if I remember right is on the Cardinals roster. So even the late round QB's have made an impression.

Anyone care to take a stab at Siemian's line for this week? I'll go 20-28 for 215-1-1.

I'm at 315 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs

Oh wow! So maybe this is a question...who here is truly a Siemian believer?

While I do think he is a decent QB I still view him as the place holder for Lynch who at some point this season will be our starter. Even if we have a winning record I could see the coaches pulling the trigger later in the year because of the more dynamic ability that Lynch has.

I would hope we wouldn't do that unless siemian is stinking. I don't want a smith kaepernick situation with the whole thing falling apart after a hasty decision.

I'm willing to wait and see. I don't think the team has to answer this question before the end of this season or next, either. But I'll run two scenarios by you:

1) The Broncos finish 10-6 or 11-5 this year, have a good showing in the playoffs but fail to reach the Super Bowl. Siemian leads the offense and is solid but this just isn't our year. In 2017 he looks solid again, but for whatever reason the Broncos make the switch to Lynch midway through the season. Following the 2017 season the Broncos trade Siemian to a QB needy team for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

2) The Broncos reach the Super Bowl and repeat as champions, but this time the offense doesn't need to be carried by the defense like it did last year. Siemian does his part, leading the Broncos in an improbable season reminiscent of Brady's second year in the league. As the off season begins, Kubiak makes it clear Siemian is their QB and he benefits from a full season of the off season program as the named starter. 2017 sees him build on this year. Lynch being under contract makes it easy for the time being, but everyone knows the Broncos are soon going to have to choose between a proven commodity and the guy they drafted a first round pick in.

I suppose I should recognize the potential for this scenario as well:

Siemian gets the Broncos to a solid start but levels off as teams have more tape on him. The Broncos turn turn to Lynch and Siemian reverts to a backup role. At the conclusion of his contract he is allowed to depart in FA.

Personally, I consider scenario 1 MOST LIKELY. Understand this does not mean I've written off this team's chances of repeating.

I like #2 and personally think that's most likely just because. :)

My optimism this week re Siemian is more pessimism about Indy's D - specifiacally DBs. ;)

And that makes sense. Missing their top-2 Corners and the next 2 are banged up along with 2 of the top-3 Safeties banged up or out and their top 2 pass rushers hurting. Honestly if we don't have a good offensive showing this week it would be worrisome.
