This team does not need to get older it needs to get younger. So Thuney at 32 does not make a lot of sense to me.
I agree. But he is still better than the options we have now. That cliff is getting closer though.
You say the worse scenario as it relates to the T position. How is drafting the best OT in the draft which we can get for less than Stanley and have for five years the worse case scenario? If, as you said they think he's their best option why wouldn't any team pursue their best option? A lot of people see Cambell as the real deal, whether or not he will be we won't know.

I would like to see the Pats land Josh Sweat, Jevon Holland and Chris Godwin then if Jakobi comes back great. I would much rather draft T and IOL build the line through the draft.
i see you GIF by VH1

The closer that the free agency tampering period and signing period get, the more I think that Patriots fans get prepared for big disappointments.

So far, this front office hasn't been willing to extend itself and get any of the guys who are now on an open market. Deebo Samuel, Joe Thuney or even Christian Kirk. All three could have been Patriots for their picks in the same round.

Before any of you go ballistic, Thuney at 32 is better than any OL the Patriots have on their roster right now.

For all of you 1970s hippies "Don't trust anyone over 30", 30 years old or $30M dollars, you might want to check the calendar because it's 2025. Yeah, I bought a brand new Ford Torino GT in 1972 for $3339.00. Try buying a brand new car for that today.

The absolute worst possible and probably most likely scenario will be that they miss on Stanley, Robinson and Moore and will be forced to draft
Will Campbell at #4 because they "think" he's their best option. They are sitting in a position to move fast and hard and are analyzing everything as if they want to be sure that public opinion will be positive.

From my cheap seat, I think that they should be pulling out every stop to get Stanley and any other OL that they can plug in immediately, even if it costs them every cap space dollar they have. Protect Maye and the offense will be fine. The WRs on this roster appeared to have sucked big time, but Maye was always throwing in a hurry or on the move and we blamed the WR for running lousy routes or not being where they were supposed to be. Give Maye an extra two seconds and the whole picture changes.

My expectations with Vrabel, Wolfe, Cowden and Highsmith are beginning to become very much lower and I'm preparing to see the exact same roster with a bunch of newbies that everyone will expect to turn this team 180 degrees. Sorry, that turn won't be forty five if they don't get their asses in gear.

I'll tell you all here and now, there isn't one team out there who hasn't made at least twenty calls to agents of every free agent. If the Patriots are waiting for Sunday, They're so far behind the eight ball that they can't see a pocket.

Former NFL GM making some very good and solid points.

1. Every team has wants and needs. Every team wants the next Tom Brady, Barry Sanders or Jerry Rice.

2. Not every player has the same value to every team.

Trades

1. Rarely do teams trade within their own division. You don't help your immediate competition under any condition.
2. A trade the seems to be exactly what a team needs, never has the same price if another team gets that player. If the team trading a player thinks that you need him more, your price will be higher than another team's. If that price is too high for you, the other team may get him cheaper because no one else wants to pay either. Then the final team lowers their price and the trading team has nowhere else to go. Rarely is the deal done on the second or third pass.
3. The NE Patriots are in a great position and they are in a lousy position. he believes that they are in a horrible position in regards to trying to mke a trade. They have an excellent draft position and every team that has something that they need and is willing to trade that player, wants a King's ransom. If another team is willing to trade a fourth round pick, the trader wants a second from the Patriots.
4. Past history always comes into play. If a team hs had a competitive advantage in the past, dealing with the team that has had the disadvantage will always be more costly. The last thing that they want to do is repeat history.

Questions to ask

1. Why would a team be so willing to trade or release a player?
A. Money
B. Injury
C. Attitude
D. Drug problem (Pain Killers)
E. Domestic or Legal problems

Free Agency

1. When a team has severe needs, agents and the player know it. If the player fits the need or solves that need, the price will always be higher to that team.
2. If the market does not have many players available for certain positions, that position will demand a higher price.
3. What a team has for available money always is a bargaining point for the player and his agent.

Selling Factors and Drawbacks

1. Weather and Stadiums. Not every player is willing to play where weather is a factor. Even if the team has a domed stadium, some players do not want to live in extreme cold. Typical teams with weather problems are Green By, Minnesota, Detriot, Buffalo, NE. Exceptions are NY, Baltimore, Indianapolis. Miami and LA are the most desirable due to "Star" quality.
2. Team history. Winners are always a draw. Weather can be overlooked when a team is a playoff contender every year.
3. Coaching. Winning coaches and a Coaching reputation are always a consideration.
4. Stadium and player conditions. Modern stadiums are always preferable.
5. Family life. If a player is married and especially if he has children, normal life, schools and available things for families are critical.

Not all inclusive. The guy wasn't just talking about the Patriots, he was talking about the overall league. Wasn't negative about about any team, but he sure seemed to jab at many of the Patriots' soft spots.

Bill was able to swing a lot of trades early on that were almost embarassing to the other GM's when Bill got good production out of those players.

Wasn't happening towards the end.

I think this guy was referring to competitive history. If your team had defeated his regularly for the previous ten years and you wanted a player from his team, it was going to cost you more than the next guy.

Which still fits.

No one is going to trade a quality O-Lineman.
It appears that a few teams are willing to trade Wide Receivers.
No one is going to trade a quality Tight End

The legal tampering period officially begins tomorrow at noon.

For some reason, I just have a sick feeling in my gut that the only news we'll hear by 3:00 PM is bad news.

The bad news for you is the Patriots not signing the players I don't want!
That bad news for you is good news for me!

But you're like employers in New Hampshire, anything over minimum wage is unacceptable. 8^)

Are Robinson or Moore in your "want" bag??
