And those evaluations that teams had of Milton that led to him falling clear to the 6th round hasn't been erased because he had one good game against backups.
There were 6 QB's taken in the first round this year. Where would Milton be ranked if he were a year younger and entering the draft this year?

Conversely, would he have lasted until the 6th round if there had not been such a plethora of good QB's last year?

Market value, QB needy team will spend more draft capitol, or cap money, on a FA. Even a bad one, or less than great.

I read something this morning that stated the evaluations of Milton were all over the place some had him early second and some 6th. There was no definitive valuation that made sense. If the Titans had him early 2nd and liked what they saw against Buff it's not a big reach. I think they also might be thinking "Is he better than any QB coming out this year"?

All true but your initial comments were judging this board for over valuing Milton based on statements made in Tennessee. The statements here i took as rhetorical responses and not that Milton was now a top of the draft talent. My take on trading him to go from 4 to 1 are only about not seeing good value. The point system 1800 going to 3000 just doesn't pass the scratch and sniff test. A good backup has good value.too.

Let's face it, succeeding the way Milton did wasn't as impressive as it appeared, but he put some really nice stuff on tape. Strong arm, great elusiveness, a size that will pull through a lot of grasping arms, as well as some good decisions and high rate of completions. Sure thing? No.

As far as FAs go.... They come with crippling salaries. Also, bridge QBs are a bridge to mediocrity. A good enough one keeps you winning enough to ruin draft position. At least young QBs don't break the bank.

All good points. And I'm sorry if it came across as me judging this board. That was not my intent. I do get as fans many times we do look at our own players as more valuable than probably the rest of the NFL world and yes there has been some fun talk because of this being a bad QB draft of teams trying to get creative in how they fix their QB position. I'm just glad that our two teams made sure to get their guy this past draft rather than hoping someone would show something this past season and hope we could get them this draft.

And you are right the veteran path is usually not been a great one to take. There has been more success of late though going that direction. Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield for example all fall into that category and have helped lead their teams to winning seasons and two of them with a chance to now go compete to win a Super Bowl. The NFL is a copycat league and I"m sure some of them have that idea of "well if Team A can do it then we can do it too".

I would also add talking about the veteran path my team was on the benefitting side of taking that risk with Peyton Manning and we saw the same thing with Tom Brady heading down to Tampa. So you can win a Super Bowl with a veteran.

My guess is if all that Milton did in college and was in this year's draft he would be a 4th round pick. This isn't as deep of a draft and someone would view him as a nice backup option that you hope in a few years could develop into something great. You don't usually take a chance on a player like that until day 3 of the draft. And any team trading for him now would understand kind of like Anthony Richardson with the Colts you better be prepared to be patient with the ups and downs hoping the athleticism can pay off as the rest of the game catches up.

Yes he was hurt by the draft he entered, but even after the top-6 went there were still 2 more taken before him. So he was not well thought of around the league. Big arm yes, but his tape was not great in college.

Coaches do not count against cap space, so if the Pats want Vrabel, then make him an offer he cannot refuse. The Kraft's act as if they are tired of losing and they say all the right things to the media, but actions speak louder than words. Let's see actions and stop with speeches
He was paying BB near $27M a year. I think he knows what counts and what doesn't. I don't think he wants everyone back where they were before free agency and the draft last year by completely wiping the slate clean.

But you stated veteran "bridge" QB. Both Peyton and Brady were "Win Now" veterans and not "bridges".

Very true. Although Broncos did hedge their bets a bit by also then taking a QB in the 2nd round of the draft where they brought in Manning just in case things didn't work out. And I wouldn't call them all bridge QB's per say. Darnold showed he belongs in this league as a starter this season. Anyone bringing him in isn't viewing him as a bridge QB. So I should change my language a bit there. Geno Smith if the Seahawks let him walk since he is asking for decent money would be viewed as a starting QB for a team to pay him.

And I would add that when those teams brought those guys in they viewed them as bridge QB's in Darnold, Smith, Mayfield but they proved they were more than that. A team might now look at a guy like Zach Wilson having gotten a year to learn from a great offensive mind as that next QB that could prove to be more than what he has shown.

Media types are always looking for a subject that will get them air time even if it's on a podcast.

Subject is Free Agents when the playoffs begin.

Supposedly, any player who will be a free agent March 12, 2025 cannot contact any team or be contacted by any team until the league declares that they are now free to be touched. Comment on one podcast, "I'd fire my agent if he wasn't talking to GMs everywhere, including their flight to a playoff game." Another comment, "Most the GMs today are only a few years older that the players, so dating a GM's daughter is pretty much out of the question. Doesn't mean a single sister is off limits or even one in a questionable marriage. Player doesn't have to marry the, but having help him get a foot in the door, doesn't hurt."

Basically, if a player is a free agent this year and is not in the playoffs, they already have their agents working the streets. My guess is that any player not planning to be stayig with his present team, even if they make the Super Bowl, musthave his agent working the phones to make sure thatthere is interest and moneybeing discussed.

I think it is the worst kept secret in the NFL that agents and owners/GM's are always talking throughout the year even. The Senior Bowl and Combine are the two biggest areas where they are all in the same building so there is no paper trail or phone log. It is why agents like to have players from every team on their list because then it doesn't look suspicious when Agent A is talking to Team A because hey they could be talking about his client that is already on that team or is about to become a FA and they can negotiate their contracts now.

Pretty much the NFL turns a blind eye to the situation unless a team complains because they were trying to get a deal done before a player becomes a FA and then they find out that agent has been talking to such and such team about a deal getting done.
