It seems half of the SEC called Kansas within moments of being told they needed to add a "Big 5" school to their schedule every year. If I was the Kansas AD, I would be insisting on home-and-home at a bare minimum. (And I don't think I have ever seen Charlie Weiss look more distinguished.)

Odd since most teams already played a Power 5 every year.

I've seen women in Kansas way scarier than their football team. No way in hell I'd go there. Kansas fans need to go down south, if for no other reason than to finally meet a black person.

Let's see who it can be.

Alabama already schedules at least 1 every year, so I doubt it's Alabama.

South Carolina plays Clemson every year, so take them off.

Florida plays Florida St every year, so take them off.

Auburn plays one every year already, so take them off.

Georgia as well.

Tennessee plays one every year already.

LSU plays them every year and already has them scheduled for the future like the above.

That's 7 I would say are for sure not calling Kansas. Leaving 7.

Arkansas usually plays a Power 5 team, they have 2 on their schedule this year.

Ole Miss I guess is borderline, but they have been scheduling them already as well. They just finished a home and home with Texas. This year they don't play a Power 5 team, but they have Boise St instead. I suppose it's possible.

So the remaining 5 are:

Vandy - wouldn't be a surprise.

Kentucky - wouldn't be a surprise.

Miss St - wouldn't be a surprise.

Texas A&M - kind of a surprise if they did, but not completely.

Missouri - I'd kind of give them a pass since there is/was a legit rivalry there.

One of the greatest naps I've ever taken was driving through Kansas. It's a hell of a thing zoning out for 300 miles and coming awake behind the wheel realizing it is 5 hours later and the scenery still makes it seem like you haven't moved. Thus why u should always fly over it.

Spoken like a true jackass who has never been to Kansas.

Ha. I wish. But right now im a few miles outside of there in Colorado. I think Garden City is the closest significant town down hwy 50.

Kansas folks are nice, though. I use to go over to Ulysses to get drank with a farmer there. Although, at my last party there a nice girl there thought my accent was Australian and that's why I had an 'A' on my hat. I just went with it.:noidea:

If I was Kansas's AD, I'd go ahead and start an auction. Who is willing to pay the most? If some school want's to throw $3-4 million to play Kansas then by all means go ahead.

I actually think of this with all cupcakes. Teams want to schedule them to pump up their win column and play a glorified practice, ala Baylor, A&M, ect...then by all means start charging them to do so. How important is that "w" in the win column for you.

Hate to break it to you but just about everyone in the "Big 5" schools send out inquiries to all the other schools trying to get match ups. I know Auburn pretty much sends invites to everyone each year for future scheduling that is how we end up with Washington State, Kansas State, Syracuse and other because they responded. Teams like Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama can pick and choose to an extent but most of the schools have to work hard to put a schedule together.

True. A couple of games and you can afford a new coach.

Bama doesn't look like they have a power 5 for 2017 yet or the following years.

Auburn needs one for 2017 and the years following.

Tennessee needs one for 2017, 2019, and 2020.

LSU needs one for 2018 and 2019.

Arkansas needs one for 2020.

Ole Miss needs one for 2016, 2019, and 2020 as well.

I can see those schools scheduling Kansas if they need to meet the requirement along with the other schools you already mentioned.

Just because they need a game doesn't mean they are calling Kansas. They will look for quality games, not a way just to meet the rule. Most, if not all, of the teams you mention are likely the ones who pushed for the rule to start with since they were already doing it.

One of the reasons the SEC wouldn't go to a nine game conference schedule is because it would guarantee seven losses that are not guaranteed now. (Looking at last year's results, that would have cost them at least one bowl team.)

The SEC and the ACC are the only "Big 5" conferences in which every single team plays an FCS opponent this season.
