Kevin Correia and Robert Coello have both exorcized their opt-out clauses and are now free agents.
Both have pitched moderately well in Sacto this year, but neither really have shown that they could be much more than a #4 or #5 on a lower-end staff.
JC Gutierrez also has a June 1 opt-out, and is expected to use it.
This is quite interesting, as it opens 2 starting spots in the Sacto rotation, and Beede may have the inside track on one of them. Reports about his huge game on Saturday are that he was using his full repertoire (2-seem, 4-seem, two curves, cutter and change). Admittedly, the source - DrB, is not an expert at pitch recognition, though. However, he was able to get both Ks as well as a high GB rate and kept his walks down (only 1!!). Jumping from A+ to AAA, while rare, is not unheard of. AA is a pitching league anyway, so I am not sure how much he can learn there. If he is advanced, why not throw him in the fire in the hitter-friendly PCL and see what happens?
