The biggest difference between the two leagues come playoff time is competitiveness. Upsets happen in the NHL. They are extremely rare in the NBA. I also believe the NBA is fixed, but that's just me.

My facebook status right now: "How can anybody POSSIBLY say the NBA playoffs are better than the NHL playoffs? Nobody, outside of bro'ed out lame SoCal could possibly watch both and make that decision. ESPN is just bitter than the NHL snubbed them and that they are stuck showing poker and bowling when the NBA and NFL strike next year."

Prolly gonna regret that one in the morning.

I always argue this with my best friend who is a huge Celtics fan (he watches every Celtics games, some Patriots, no Red Sox or Bruins games). He tries to argue that it's harder to run up and down the court than ice skate (hockey players get to glide, LOL), basketball is more physical (look at what happens under the basket, WHAT!!!!!!), basketball is more exciting because there is more scoring, including the playoffs (that's what he wants in sports, high scoring. To him that equates excitement.) Final analysis, my best friend is an idiot when it comes to sports. A great, nice, loyal friend, but an idiot still. By the way, I watched that show yesterday and even Skip Bayless, a huge basketball fan, said after watching the game the night before (I believe the Sharks game), the NHL playoffs are more exciting than the NBA playoffs. I will add he is rooting for the Bruins to win though.
