Yeah, meaningless, but fun to debate. So, name 3 teams that are too high and 3 that are too low.

NFL Power Rankings Week 1 - National Football League - ESPN

Too Low:

1) Ravens - how the fuck can the last team standing be ranked 8th? They lost a lot of defensive starters but rebuilt nicely. They'll win the division and be dangerous in the playoffs once again.
2) Saints - 13th? With the scandal behind them and Payton back they'll be a force. Likely will reach the divisional round of the playoffs and wouldn't surprise me if they won the division.
3) Chargers, #24 - call me a homer, but a team that hasn't lost more than 9 games in 10 seasons is not in the bottom quarter of the league. Norv is gone, and yes there's a minor rebuild in work, but this is a middle of the pack team, not a bottom rung team. If they can stay healthy the defense could be special.

Too High:

1) Seattle - #1? How do you vault over the two Super Bowl teams just by having an off season? Definitely a contender, but I'd put them in the top 5-6, not #1.
2) Patriots, #6 - They'll probably win the division, but too much credit is being given to Brady. You can't lose all those weapons and still put up the same numbers. The defense also has some question marks.
3) Chiefs, #19 - You go from #32 and 2 wins to #19 by hiring Andy Reid, trading for Alex Smith, and drafting a right tackle to replace Eric Winston? They might surprise but I don't see them improving past the mid 20s.

Too High

1. Seahawks - 49ers are still the best in the West.
2. Falcons - Cant win in the playoffs, not sure what justifies a #2 spot.
3. Bengals - Not a top 10 team yet but could be later in the season.

Too Low

1. Colts - Andrew Luck is the real deal. Playoff team
2. Saints - Drew Brees is in the prime of his career. Playoff team
3. Vikings - Adrian Peterson... Nuff said

1. I agree Seattle, Falcons Denver 49ers I would all have ahead of them.
2. Indy- They only made the playoffs last year because of their cupcake schedule and now going to fly down to earth this year. I wouldnt be surprised if the Titans finish a head of them
3. Raiders- anything higher then last is way to high.

Too low

1. Ravens- Still the Champs and you have to beat the Champs
2. Chicago- maybe not to low just dont know why they are under teams like Saints Colts Redskins and Packers who I believe are not as good as Chicago.
3. Cardinals- slightly improved and will be better then people think. They should not be listed below the Eagles Chargers or Lions

That maybe the case but I dont trust the Packers defense but if Im proven wrong then Im wrong but right now I would put them a head of the Packers. I think Chicago can win the division this year.

The Packers haven't lost to the Bears since 2010 and have won 10 of the last 12 vs Chicago.

Because they were a better team they arent always going to be a better team. Like Bears were better in the 80s eventually they were not as good. That is what Im saying the Bears will be better this year.

I wouldn't say the Bears are better than the Packers, and obviously I am a Bear fan. But it is nice to see other fans give them credit.:suds:

No complaints here.

Just like always, these experts nail the power rankings.

The second quote doesn't match your opinion for the bolded quote. If you subscribe to the SB champs are the best until they lose theory, you can't say Chicago should be ahead of GB because you have a feeling. If Chicago hasn't beaten GB much in the recent past, what argument could you make for that change if you still hang onto the SB champ ideology.

These power rankings are for this upcoming season. Whether or not a team won the SB or beat a team last season isn't the end all - be all for determining the order for this season's power rankings. For example, the Ravens lost some key contributors from the SB team. They also wouldn't even have been the top ranked team if there were rankings released right before the SB so it's not like they've been riding this wave of superiority for any amount of time.

The Ravens should not be #1 because they don't look like they're going to be the #1 team starting the 2013 season. Seattle on the other hand, looks like they belong there. Explosive offense, dominating defense, young core, minimal losses, and built well in the draft.

Power rankings mean nothing especially before the season starts....but I love how the Heads at ESPN pick the cowboys and or Giants to win the division, yet have the Redskins ranked higher (which they should be) as they will win the division again!!
