Wtf!?!

100million to air one game!?! One WC game?

And usually a shitty one at that. This is their 3rd year broadcasting WC games I believe and all of them were awful matchups.

Hmmm...watch those FA contracts...this could be bad news for the salary cap going forward...

WC games are the TNF of the post season.

The Potato Bowl of Professional Football.

Hard to even guess why they would sign off on a deal like that.

If they were getting the WC game that NBC usually get then I would understand. But I would never sign off on that deal if they were told that they're getting the early Saturday game

Id get it if they told the NFL it's was going to be MNF.

No matter what game, it'd do well enough.

Doesn't seem like ESPN was dictating anything though.

If I didn't need the points for my Firefan league, there's now way I'd even be watching these crappy teams :( But I'm determined to keep my rating on that leaderboard so I guess I have to suffer thru watching Raiders vs Texans.

"Think that's bad? It gets worse."

"The NFL assigns ESPN the worst wild card game in the worst time slot on the worst day possible and then decides whether or not it wants to take the $100 million each year. That is, ESPN doesn't even get to choose whether it wants to air the game or not. The NFL just says, "You're airing it, give us $100 million."

"Putting this contract into terms that everyone can easily understand, the NFL is the guy telling ESPN to squeal like a pig in Deliverance."

ESPN has been bleeding money of late, via loss of customers.

Until ESPN figures out that no one wants to hear loud mouth assholes screaming homeristic points, they will continue to lose money.

The formula was simple and they excelled at it, then they started trying to create "personalities".

1) Show sports
2) report sports news
3) replay sports and highlights

THAT'S IT! I don't care what Skip or anyone else has to say. I don't care if someone has a funny catch phrase. Show me sports, show me highlights. Done.

Pti was gold. Then they had to create 30 other shows that all sucked. I blame Brett Favre. His will he won't retire every yr for like 5 yrs began espn turning into tmz

ESPN's Chris Mortenson leaks that it's the Patriots fault.
"if we only had some deflated footballs to attract viewers"

League responds by scheduling the Pats to play the Rams, Bengals, Browns, Texans, Niners and the AFC East next season

My bad, that was this season

Good.

I keep having this recurring nightmare where, eventually, every single football game from high school up to the pros is on cable and not free TV, where they belong
