ESPN Caption Fail

So as they do in all LLWS coverage they list the players favorite things...if you notice carefully they list this young man's favorite singer as "Wandai Wrection." Oh ESPN...that is beneath you...Yes it's hilarious that they are dumb enough to have messed this up, but cmon....The kid meant the awful boy band One Direction....Oh ESPN....

Trying my best not to take anything away from the humor here, but.........

I understand that before kids play in big games like this, the t.v people give them all a questionaire to fill out, including their favorite team, player, and yes, their favorite band. As such, I am thinking that it was the kid that failed, and that he just did his best in phonetically spelling the name, in a likely foreign to him language.

Still, having just lived through the Asiana plane crash here in the Bay Area, and dealing with the now famous "pilot name issue", this still is funny to me. That is because I am insensitive, but whatever.

I'm betting it isn't a questionnaire but a camera or reporter interview and some 40-yo paid by the hour ESPN producer just wasn't smart enough to figure out what the kid said.

Or worse than that ... somebody wanted to be cute and comes across racist.

The kid had a good answer ... ESPN screwed it up. As I said above ... now we know what Todd does during the day.

No doubt ESPN dropped the ball. The kid has shit taste in music, but I am sure more kids do haha.
