I believe the idea is to set up Ryan Finley to be the backup next season by giving him this experience. nobody expects him to come in the starting job and tear it up like he's Tim Tebow or something. (just trying to stay true to my stereotype, lol)

then after we go 1-15 (dolphins, lol) we will draft the heir apparent to the QB position.

I think he's someone who will be a clear backup. not an AJ McCarron journeyman, not good enough to worry about owning a starting job somewhere else.
