Will we have to give up our #2 to get Darnold would be the question
At least that and our number one next year I would think. It seems a given that the first two picks this year will be QBs, and I have a hard time believing Darnold isn’t one of those.

But hey, it’s almost 4 months until the draft and lots of crazy things will happen between now and then.

Rewatched the 30 for 30 on the 83 NFL draft
Colts wanted 2 #1 from 83, #1 from 84 and 2 #2
The best QB from 84 was boomer so that is why colts
Wanted 2 from 83
How's the QB draft in 2019 don't mind giving up a 2019 #1 if
We get our #1 target

Actually in points allowed , Shanny fielded several (4-5) top 10 defensive teams from 1997 on. He just couldn't win his division and get that home game.
Very nice. Yeah I think things got blown out of proportion because of how bad the defense was when he left. And really I don't blame his faults on his drafts so much more so the contracts he was willing to hand out to high risk FA's that definitely did not pan out leaving the team a ton of dead money to deal with. He started turning into Al Davis in that way as a GM trying to find that one missing Championship piece.

I just remember his last several years he was terrible at picking defensive players in the draft, and that whole Daryl Gardner DT huge free Agent miss. I mean I can remember him trading up to get Jarvis Moss or picking Robert Ayers and Tim Crowder and so many defensive lineman earl that just never did anything.

It just amazes me that he could find gems like Tony Scheffler in the middle rounds at tight end and yet couldn’t draft defense

That's right 2009 was the first draft without Shanahan. Looking through the draft results Shanhan's best Defensive picks were Dumervil in 2006 and DJ Williams in 2004. And we can agree that Dumervil was his best pick but even DJ Williams fr being drafted 17th OVR only had about 4 good years where he showed he deserved to be picked that high. He was a good player but a lot his tackles came 8-9 yards downfield to really inflate his stats.

LGM sold me on the Okie State QB Mason Rudolph (The Red Nosed QB). He is not glamourous, but he is special good.

Watched Darnold last night in the bowl game. Lot of yards. Not a lot of control. Would not be a 1st round pick for me.

Again, can't base a prospect off one game. Darnold is easily a first round pick given his tools and the position he plays. There isn't even a debate to that.

That being said I think many overrated him coming into this season but he's going high. Just isn't as ready as many thought.

I think last night showed many of the things that have people (like me) excited about him but also why people are hesitant to crown him the next great QB to hit the NFL. He had some tight window throws in big moments of the game that were down right impressive. He showed his ability to keep a play alive trying to move around the pocket and throw a very good pass on the run. He also showed his ability to pick up the tough yards running if that is absolutely what is needed.

On the flip side though we saw the turnovers rear their ugly head. The interception I would probably say was 75% on him with a bad read and 25% on the receiver running one of the worst slant routes I've ever seen. The fumbles are a combination of 1) his long throwing motion showing up and 2) his OL just being down right terrible last night. He showed his decision making is still very raw and that he will need time to develop and learn what he is looking at on the field. He showed some of the lack of mechanics not just in his throwing motion but on some of his throws even when he had a clean pocket throwing off the back foot losing some velocity. And finally we just saw some of the inconsistencies in accuracy. Like I said one throws would be into the tightest window where the margin for error was just a few inches either way and he would put it perfect. He had other throws though like towards the end of the game with a corner route called and his top target actually getting some separation but overthrew him by about 5 yards.

So lots to like but plenty to be worried about with his game.

I agree with what everyone said about Darnold to this point.

What I like about Rudolph - looking into his career - is that he is an emotional center of his offense - other players respond to him - this is an intangible - I think is important for QB success in the NFL.

DC (I think?) mentioned this earlier, which is a slight concern of mine;

Rudolph has a ton of weapons that he can rely on to go get 50/50 balls downfield. Not that he wouldn't have that in Denver, but DB's are better. His arm might not be as strong as some (myself included) hope.

That said, I love this kid and think he fits the measurable that Elway loves.

I think that's the best assessment of a college Qb you've ever given Cd. Darnold reminds of Farve in many ways. I don't think Farve ever progressed as student of the game as far as reading D's like a Manning or Brady, etc. He had a gunslinger mentality with a quick release and velocity but prone to forcing throws thus lots of TO. Think that's what you might get with Darnold. Lots of " Wow " factor along with frustration. Id still take that in a second. Personally though, I like Josh Allen potential in top of 2nd and go O line or D line in 1st

To get a QB in this draft you would need to trade up . 2 will be taken in front of us .. Possibly 3
