oh no, if you listen to cam on local radio?

he was the most ticked off at seguin...the most publicly vocal about him.

All the heavies — president Cam Neely, assistant general manager Jim Benning, director of player personnel Scott Bradley, future director of amateur scouting Keith Gretzky — chucked their critiques at Seguin while debating the forward’s Black-and-Gold future. A personal favorite was when they lamented the pending loss of Seguin’s breakaway speed.

“In the regular season,” jabbed Benning, his poker face complementing the contempt spilling from his voice.

Yes he does. We got Seguin and Claude would bench him if he missed a defensive assignment. Claude wants a team of 2 way experts that lean on defense. Well you cannot win if you punish offensive minded players cause they did not back check on one play or got caught out of position cause they are trying to score goals.

When Greg Cambell gets as much ice time as Pastrnak something is wrong and throw in Kelly as well.

claude loves old aging veterans

going into last nights game he stated "this is a mans game..."

meaning?

he would again rely on aging has beens with bloated contracts vs faster, more dynamic guys like spooner (who i have been HUGE on) and pastrnak sat.

I hear you, but I also believe no one wants to face BOS in the playoffs.

Is there a middle ground somewhere? :noidea:

he really was a drunken party boy here tho.

he was a kid, with a TON of pressure on him as a franchise savior.

if we got half of a kane in that second finals (i.e seguin) the bruins have another cup.
That's understandable, but relying on a 21 year old to deliver the Cup is beyond fucked up.

I cannot believe that anyone fears the Bruins right now. In 2011 they kicked your ass and scored. Now they dont score and get their ass kicked. Plus chances are they wont make it and even if they do the will get the Habs who will skate circles around them and kill them in 4 games.

I'd rather throw Kelly out, if you don't mind. And 2 games ago Pastrnak was number 12 in minutes for forwards.

Ok guys, you have to remember, this is the Bruins we're talking about. They have always been a team that worked from the defense out. You had your 1st lines with Nifty, Neely, Espo and such. The 2nd line has almost always had a center like Bergy. The 3rd and 4th lines? Same old game. We also have one of the cheapest owners in sports, and showed how much class he had when he took a jab at Cam right before the parade when he said something like "how come you couldn't win one as a player" or something like that. Sure we won a cup in 2011 but a lot of things fell the Bruins way and it gave the players huge momentum. Jacobs doesn't WANT to build a team that wins multiple championship because he doesn't want us to get used to it and expect it. He'd have to spend more money and we all know that ain't happening. BF4L it's good to see you brother. Hope all is well and I luv ya. :suds:

You were doing well until you started with the "Jacobs is cheap" rant. Boston spends to the cap and they have for a loooong time. They may not have spent wisely (see below) and they have had some bad luck with a few FA signings as well, but the myth that used to make the rounds on talk radio is just that, a myth.

As for this year's edition of the Boston Bruins I have to lay the majority of my criticism at the feet of Peter Chiarelli. His penchant for giving decent (at best) players like Kelley, Marchand, Krug, Reilly freakin Smith etc.... ridiculous contracts (most of them with no movement clauses) has hamstrung this organization for now and the foreseeable future. I'm not sure if having Johnny Boychuck on the roster would have made a huge difference, but his departure and the crap return is directly tied to these contracts.

Trading Kessel was a no brainer, the kid is a pussy and the return was fantastic. Seguin is different. No doubt the kid is a very talented goal scorer, but he was/is extremely immature and it was very unlikely he would ever embrace the rugged two way game that is a staple in Boston. However if you're gonna move him you have to get back something really good. Chiarelli got fleeced on that deal there's no doubt about that.

Do I believe that players have tuned out the coach? Yeah, it appears that that is the case. Did the injuries to Kevan Miller and Chara help? No, Chara has been playing on one leg since his return and Miller would have certainly helped shore up the D.

One last thing, Seguins was lighting it up in Dallas for much of the first half of the season and tailed off considerably when the going got tough. He'll be home watching the playoffs just like his ex-teammates from Boston :gaah:

He wasn't being relied on to deliver the Cup, he was merely being relied on to do his part and chip in with solid play at both ends of the ice.

Sadly he embraced his life as a man whore far more than he did his life as a PROFESSIONAL hockey player.

I would love to unload Berube and bring Claude into Philly. Do you guys think Claude is history? The guy has a solid track record. Giving him the axe for missing the playoffs only once during his tenure? I know Boston always has big expectations, but who are you going to bring in? Babcock is probably staying put in Detroit I would think.

I had previously posted that when not 1 single player on your team has a better than avg season this is what u get. The blame for this big time underachieve falls squarely on the shoulders of the players, period

I see Babcock in Toronto next year and the Wings bringing up the Griffins head coach.

Babcock would be crazy to take the Toronto job. He's in a great environment now in D Town. The fans and brass seem to love him. He will get his generous raise to stay put IMO. I just can't imagine him leaving a good situation just to possibly make a little more in Toronto. My guess is Philly will go all out and try for Babcock first if he is available. Personally, I think Claude Julien will be the next Philly coach.

The part in bold is the problem with the Bruins - they're not adapting - this is the same problem with the Flyers - everyone wants them to be physical and tough because of how they played in the past but you can't just play that way - you have to adapt to your personnel - that's what makes great coaches great and I think that's one thing Claude Julien is at fault for - he didn't adapt to some of the strengths that his younger players have - I'm not saying you have to be soft and not be physical at all because I think being physical and tough is still important in the game but you need to have a good mix of physical play and skill throughout the lineup and the Bruins didn't want to adapt to his game - you can't make every single player a tough, rugged guy - it's just not realistic

As for him in Dallas, he had a knee injury and came back sooner and wanted to help the team win - he played with heart this season and could have decided to wait longer to come back from that injury but he came back sooner - I think the part about being late for practice was overblown - and actually, the Stars played really well late in the season and he was one of their least of the problems - he was great
