I thought he did make a push with his leg. It looked weird to me.

I would have disallowed the series winning goal especially since Bennett's actions looked pretty deliberate.

Half of me thinks it was just a mercy killing at that point.

I actually re-watched the goal a Couple of times and I understand what Aho was doing.

1) It's like a CB biting on a stop and Go route in the NFL. Tkachuk stops, Aho Doesn't.

2) There was only one shot you can take Away without getting hurt. That is the low left. Aho does that. Forcing Tkachuk to go bar down. Only problem is....

To me Aho got out of postion, realized and tried to do the best he could...

Not saying it is right, using the body is, but I can understand.
