Even on a holiday Monday you get the updates.

East closes the gap on the West by pulling 0.003 percentage points closer this week.
But the weak West still is ahead of the beast East 129-106 at about the midpoint of the season.
Top eight in the West are 83-45 vs the top eight in the East at 73-56.
That easy schedule for the East is just around the corner, I'm sure.

There are unpredictable changes happening after the year turned to the new one, which one should count for...

In the East, all teams which are below the 8th seed have started tanking just after the 8th seed became unreachable, in order to beat the respective ones from the West for the lottery ranking, while in the West, all teams but the GSW are still in a playoff run...

The 8 seed in the East has 18 wins currently. It's not unreachable for any team at this point. You know, another explanation could possibly be that the mid to lower teams in the East are just worse than those in the West.

All lower seeds but the Pistons (who are plagued with injuries and it's not in Casey's culture to tank) are tanking in the East... The 8th seed in the East is the Nets, that makes it unreachable by definition.

Why would you think the Nets are ureachable?

Because they have the better team and Kyrie back... They had a rough month in adjusting the team different with Kyrie taking PG and adjusting Dinwiddie to a different role, but now they have it all figured out and are back to be even better than before after losing many this month to inferior teams.

Well here it is Monday again and although all NBA fans are in mourning I will still post the weekly update to the scintillating East vs West race.

The East continued to close the gap this week by pulling another 0.002 pecentage points closer. The West still holds a sizable lead however with the overall tally being 140-116.

Opposite of the overall count the West top 8 inched up percentage points and the top 8 in the East inched down. The West top 8 is 91-49 and the East top 8 is 80-63.

Not sure if it is old to you, but it never gets old for me: It's the Monday update of the NBA's Eastern Confernce Domination!

The East continues to close the gap on the West, climbing an incredible 0.0000585 percentage points overall. The record now only favors the West by 146-121.

The top eight in each conference improved their records with the East at 83-64 for a 0.565 winning rate and the West at 0.653 winning rate at 94-50.

The best cross conference record still belongs to the Bucks at 16-4, but the Clippers are next at 14-4.
