They must work. The Saints and The Niners didn't seem phased by the crowd noise using them. Sure they lost. But they lost by a lot more without them. 12th Man may be irrelevant.
The Saints even said they were useless. What part of 16-1 says irrelevance? 11 false starts and 3 missed kicks by one team? They must work. Well they decided to make them optional for round two, which was a game they were much more competitive in, so I'd say they were a non-factor at best.Perhaps all the teams should try it. Getting plays off for the Niners seemed more effective this time around. I thought the Saints benefited from it, but I guess I'm wrong.
Like I said, perhaps all teams that play there should try it. Then we can test some theories. Not like the NFL banned earplugs, yet.
Well you probably know more about the acoustics than we do then. I heard a few years ago that QBs say "hutt" more than "hike" because crown noise is a high frequency and "hutt" is heard more easily through it.True. Crowd noise is just the tip of the iceberg when you have a great team.
I worked in audiology for a over a decade and curious to know if the earplugs effectively block off crowd noise frequencies. I guess it's a personal thing.
Didn't Seattle have more false starts in the game? Niners didn't seem phased by the noise at all. No wasted timeouts all game

Agreed. I think the 49ers debunked the "12th Man" myth. They had no trouble getting the plays called. What gave them trouble was the talented Seahawk defense. Those guys may be classless bitches but they can play!
Agreed. but I still can't name a player in their front 7 other than Clemons....
There was that 3rd and 1 delay of game penalty. That wasn't exactly good...
