A little bit of logic from the Snide remark

Why choose? The Redskins should bring back Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson.

Exerpt

But Washington will have about $60 million in salary-cap space next season when the overall team number is expected to be about $165 million. The Redskins could probably keep the pair of wideouts in Washington for as little as $16 million per year over the next four years. Adding a fourth season would sweeten deals compared to offers from other bidders, who might be hesitant to offer anything longer than three years for players at their age.
I agree that we should have to room to sign both.. But, In you opinion, what is the number where we walk away from each? Are you willing to pay DJax $12M per year for the next 4 years?

I would say at $12 million flat... not a chance. $8-10 with some incentives I could live with for Jax. Also have to note, I dont want to see him going back to Philly. My take is, $16M a year for the pair would be acceptable, $18 combined would make me wince. Above that it would seriously depend on what other options we had going forward. Is easy to say, we can just draft or sign some one, but my thinking is... if it aint broke dont fix it.

I have stated my opinion on both.

DJ at 8 mil.
PG at 6.
I think you lose them both at these levels. I expect DJ will get 10-11M and PG somewhere in the $8M range.

For once I just wish we could pay the guys that produced for us and not chase the guys that produced for someone else.

I pay people to produce...not people that have produced. History is not kind to 30+ receivers. And in what world is 6 and 8 mil not getting paid a fair wage?

Pierce and Clark have rings. 10 years later and we are still looking for safety and middle linebacker help. Amazing.

The same world where we continually lowball guys that have produced because we think we can replace them on the cheap, and then end up watching them go else where, still produce and we spend the next 3-5 years trying to replace them. But we saved a couple million. :thumb:

Clark
Pierce

Both we low balled, both performed else where and got rings

How many draft picks and roster spots have we thrown at OLB to replace Rak and sure we got his performance out of two cheaper players. But you dont think we could have used those draft picks else where??

Some times, trying to be a tight wad is more trouble than its worth.

So you have 2 players, both going back a decade as evidence? For the record, I wanted both back.

RAK is having a good season but last year he wasn't special. The 3 previous seasons with the Skins, he played under 1.5 seasons worth of games and totalled 11.5 sacks. At nearly 8 million a season we had to let him go. Even when healthy he wasn't worth it. Theoretically, we still would have drafted TM and PS because they were BPA.

It isn't tight to not overspend on weak talent...it is smart. NE doesn't overspend...seems to work.

Raks actual cap cost over the last two seasons has been $6.5m a season. We spent $4.5m per season to replace him and burned 2 extra roster spots plus the draft picks. So we saved a total of $4 million, and our defense is no better than it would have been with him. NE has a coach that has been there 10 years and a system in place. Very rarely do you see the Patriots doing what you propose... go cheap and throw in a rookie starter. They kept players that worked UNTIL they developed some one better.

But I will bite, lets low ball both and let them walk... who do we replace them with to save a few million in cap space?? Do tell. Who can we get to replace Jackson and Garcon as they are apparently too expensive in your book??

He counts 8 mil this season and 9 mil next and the season after. You are counting two people against one but we still would have drafted either TM or PS...so count one of their salaries against RAK.

The Patriots have allowed Vince Wilfork, Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, Richard Seymour, Aqib Talib and many more without a replacement.

Ryan Clark
Antonio Pierce
Trent Green
Brad Johnson
Casey Rabach
Brian Orakpo
Alfred Morris
Lavar Arrington
Could sure use Perry Riley right now.
Carlos Rogers went to SF and balled out for a while.

Guys we chased.
Adam Archuleta
Jerimiah Trotter
Jessie Armstead
Jeff George

I agree GK, there will have to be a limit as to what we pay 11&88 but Garçon can do what he's doing right now for the next 4 years easy. Slants, comebacks, sticks. Jackson is getting deep.on everyone. It doesn't look like he's about to fall off a cliff in the next two to three years. Does he look like he can't run anymore to you?

This is what Dan Snyder does. The grass in always greener on the other side. I really need Scot to step in and recognize what is working and keep the guys who are actually performing on Sundays.

Dude.. .you remind me of every tight wad payroll accountant I have ever known. Thinking its a good idea to find cheaper labor and expecting things to be better simply because they cut costs a little.

Then wondering why the hell the end product got worse instead of better.

There are about 7 guys on this mediocre team that other teams would even want.

Norman
Kerrigan
Williams
Reed
Jackson
Garçon
Crowder
Cousins

I don't understand what the debate is all about considering we will have 60+ to play with. You keep your difference makers. You keep the guys other teams would want.
