2, yeas 11. 5? Those are Wallace numbers, you think it's less?
Wow. I assumed it was higher than that. I stand corrected. I would sign him for that amount. Guess I should have read the entire sentence of the OP, huh?

I think we could get both of them in here and come in at under $13 million against the cap for the pair. Every one looks at the Numbers they are counting this year. No one really looks at the fact that Jackson' entire deal was $24 million.

Two of your three leading receivers this year are Crowder and Reed. They also have the number 1 and 2 spots for TD catches. Davis and CT are 4 and 5. Personally I would like to bring back Garcon but it isn't like the cupboard is bare.

Agreed. But how many times have we seen, with out all the parts, the engine stalls. You take Jackson off the plate, and Reed all of a sudden is getting double covered.

YOu take Jackson AND reed of the field, and Crowder just isnt quite as open as he has been.

My take is we have a pass catching UNIT that is working. Way I see it, with some shrewd cuts that need to be made, plus our carry over from this year, we will have just shy of $75 million in cap space.

Now mind you Im gonig to shoot HIGH numbers here

Figure Kirk to acount for $24M as we tag him
Baker another $10 million in cap dollars
Davis $5M

So if I went high numbers and we had to tag Kirk... Im still seeing $36 million in cap space. Again going completely out there saying we paid BOTH $10 million, still leaves $14 million

Now mind you I think Kirk gets done long term, and costs about $16M against the cap.
Davis $3m
And Bakers $10 is what I expect

And here is the rub... I think we COULD get both resigned and have them count $10 million or less against the cap combined. So unless some one has another Jackson type player handy that isnt in a walking boot, we either resign him.. or ignore the D-line again and draft another WR early.

Our system works BECAUSE we have so many options.

Again I will ask you.... who on this roster demands double teams aside from Jackson and Reed?? Garcon doesnt, And if you tried to put Garcon in that role, he doesnt have the speed to do it on a consistent basis. Doctson cant out run the walking boot he has been in the entire season. And Crowders role is best served in the slot where he is. So unless we are going to burn another high draft pick on a WR and once again ignore the D-line, an effort needs to be made to resign both Garcon and Jackson. I fully expect we will lose one of the two, but I think a possession receiver is actually easier to find.

we don't know about next season with doctson. ax will demand 0m per season which is crazy. Look at what the Chiefs wr is doing. I forgot his name. He wasn't even drafted. Even Ross. Ross can get deep on anyone. Too much money for a one trick pony.

If Ross could do it, dont you think we would have used him in that role when Jackson was out. You have no idea what Jackson will demand. We do know what he brings to te table and that no one on roster has shown the ability to replace that.

When Doctson can make it through a week of practice without going back in a walking boot, we can afford to place faith in him. Until such time, he holds as much value as Gallett.

I will go on record that we wont even make Jackson and offer when he hits FA. Just my gut feeling. You know guys get overpaid in FA. his is the same thing

You might be right. But as usual you dont have a realistic replacement for him. Which is why I think they will at minimum make him an offer. Ross is not an option, You move Crowder into that role and you then have to find another slot WR which we dont have on roster.

At 30 years old I figure both Garcon and Jackson will get deals slightly above what Mike Wallac got. Unless they go to some team that is going to severely over pay the. BUt to simply say dont even make him an offer is short sighted in light of the fact that we dont have a replacement for him.

If we don't make an offer to him it means two things. First, someone has a crazy offer for him. 2nd we just don't need him. Jackson will not take a discount price to come back here. That should tell you all you need to know about that guy.

Again dude... how do you know WHAT he will take?? You dont.. you are once again throwing off your opinion as fact. And as he is under contract with us, we get the first shot at making him an offer right up until free agency opens. If our GM is as smart as every one thinks, he will make an offer to both, and then if they feel they need to test the waters than so be it. But it would be down right dumb to not make an offer to both players before the start of free agency, gauge where THEY think they need to be paid and work from there. If Doctson was even able to practice right now, I could see saying we know what we have.. .but fact is we dont. So you cant really place any weight behind that line of thinking. Grant and Ross have been after thoughts, HArris has been more productive than the two of them combined. Fuck Doctson has more catches than Ross on the season.

lol. we will see. No way both will be here next year. I believe the whole point for drafting Doctson was b/c he was willing to lose Garcon/Jackson in FA.

Then why isn't Jackson commanding safety coverage. He isn't. They are still putting single coverage on him. Look at his big plays he is just speed. He could get that money if more than one team wants him in FA. He is getting 9M now. e is going to want another big pay day in FA. Some team will give it to him b/c they just look at his speed. He is going to get overpaid in FA. He will not come back here for a discount.
Jackson would be more value to us if we can get him the ball in certain situations other than throwing the "go" or "take off" route. What happened to lining him up in the slot to create mis-matches? What about smoke screens or jail break routes? Our offense has no imagination and we should be getting him no less than 9-10 targets every game. We don't do this thus, he looks like a one trick pony which likely leads to his frustration and why a Philly reunion would be welcomed for him. He knows Pederson will "get him his touches" which will make a difference.

Jackson is a must sign for next year. Can't make that same statement about Garcon all though I like what he brings to the table but we can replace Garcon imo.

How is he a must sign? You will give 10M per season to a one trick pony who is injury prone?

No problem with keeping them both if they can make it work. I just expressed my opinion of which one I find as most important. I like them both and adding VD to the mix is even better.

Side note... We can refer to Garcpn as PG, We can refer to Jackson as DJ( although I had the initials first), or D-Jax.

But I vote we not refer to Vernon Davis as VD... cause under no circumstances do I want to add VD to any mix.

Now as for which we should keep. If it came to it I say Jackson only because I think its alot easier to find a possession WR in either the draft or FA. Home run threats that can take the top off a defense and demand double coverage are alot harder to come by. Jackson might only have one trick, but when that trick works, more often than not it either scores, or puts us in position to score on the next play or two.
