My thinking is, give them both deals similar to the one Jackson got the last time we signed him. A 4 year deal where the last year voids. MAybe not quite as steep on the fully guaranteed portion mind you.

But its very doable to keep both and still have working room in other areas. Jacksons year one cap hit was $4.25M, Garcons was $4.7M

Considering Grant or Ross, possibly both are expendable at this point.... I think for Jackson it will come down more to is he going to be a part of the offense. If we have some one who can take the top off the defense for cheaper... then he is expendable. If not, both have their roles and we can ill afford to depend on MKD to take either guys place in the offense at this point.

With DJax all but gone this signing is a priority. You just can't go into next year with Crowder and a bunch of question marks.

I agree. Garcon would be worth more to us than any other team. I have no problem in giving him 6-7 mil per season. I wouldn't even make Jackson an offer. He is as good as gone.

Garcon, Doctson, Crowder, Grant, and Harris is still solid. No need to draft or pickup a WR.

My thinking is, you cant place any more faith in having Doctson be a contributing member of this team than you can place in GAllette. I realize he is under contract. But I think a real effort needs to be made to bring back both Garcon and Jackson until such time as we can realistically replace both. I like Harris. I think with time he could become a formidable weapon in some capacity. But Garcon and Jackson both bring elements that we cant easily replace. And Crowder in the slot has proven to be a monster. Unless one or both are asking for stupid money, we need to bring them both back at this point.

Totally disagree. you cant just write off Doctson b/c he got hurt his rookie year. Besides a deep threat Jackson doesn't bring much to this team. You can rely on him for blocking or to make the big 3rd down conversion. There is no way he should be brought back. I would go as far to say that Vernon Davis is a bigger priority to sign back than Jackson.

I didnt say you write Doctson off. But to plan around having him at this point is foolish. Jackson is the only real deep threat we have on this team. So unless you got another option for that deep threat, Jackson at least needs to be considered to be brought back. I would perfer they keep both, one less thing to worry about and then they can concentrate on building the O-line and the defense.

yes but that deep threat is going to cost 9-10mil per season. No thanks. Plus he is injury prone. Anyone of our Wr's could of ran the route he ran when he got that big catch In the Ari game. The dal game was a busted coverage. Most of our WR can get deep. They just like to throw the deep ball to Jackson b/c that is basically all he is good for. The Eagles will throw money at him. He is gone and I don't mind it at all.

First I dont think he costs 9-10 million per season.

Second.. if any of our WRs could run the route, why is it our passing game dramatically changes when Jackson is not on the field?? NO one is game planning against Ryan Grant running a fly pattern. They throw that route to Jackson because he is the only WR on this team that you have to respect his speed. Sure any one can run up the field 40 yards, but no one else on our roster can blow past the coverage while doing it on a consistent basis.

Then why isn't Jackson commanding safety coverage. He isn't. They are still putting single coverage on him. Look at his big plays he is just speed. He could get that money if more than one team wants him in FA. He is getting 9M now. e is going to want another big pay day in FA. Some team will give it to him b/c they just look at his speed. He is going to get overpaid in FA. He will not come back here for a discount.

So in your grand talent acquiring mind.. who do we replace him with?? Who on this roster has the speed to replace him??

Take a look at Bullocks article on just this question. And no teams are not single covering Jackson, and the few that have, paid for it.

Who should the Redskins retain, Pierre Garcon or DeSean Jackson?

I'd love to see both Garcon and Jackson come back. But its probably not in the cards. Jackson is looking for his last big payday and someone will pay it. But he only gives you 12 games a year or so and maybe 40-50 catches if he has a good year. Now, he is a great home run hitter, one of the best in the league. But that's about it. No doubt he brings a unique talent, but just not sure he is worth top WR money going forward. Rumors are that Philly is interested. He would be crazy to go back there. 2nd year QB who will probably struggle for a few more years. That's not going to help his legacy. My bigger concern would be Dallas. Pairing him with Dez would be a formidable WR duo.

Garson, I dont believe, will garner top money. He does all we ask of him. 70-90 catches/year, blocks with zeal, goes over the middle, catches everything, and is rarely injured. If we are going to spend money, he is the better bet (not necessarily a better threat than Jackson, just a different one). We would have to replace Jackson's speed and I dont see anyone on the roster today to do that.

If we can find someway to keep them both without breaking the bank, I'm all for it. But I wouldnt give Jackson anything more than a 2 year deal unless the back years after 2 were voidable.

Garcon, Crowder, and Doc could all get deep. You don't elite speed to get downfield.

Doctson cant even get on the field right now. Why would you take Crowder out of the slot and who would you replace him with?? and Garcon is a possession receiver.. .no one is fearing him out running them and getting behind the coverage.

Garcon can get deep, look at what he did against GB. The system just doesn't allow him to have those shots. I think Jackson wont even get an offer from us b/c FA is just going to overprice his ass. I believe SM wants Garcon over Jackson.

Again I will ask you.... who on this roster demands double teams aside from Jackson and Reed?? Garcon doesnt, And if you tried to put Garcon in that role, he doesnt have the speed to do it on a consistent basis. Doctson cant out run the walking boot he has been in the entire season. And Crowders role is best served in the slot where he is. So unless we are going to burn another high draft pick on a WR and once again ignore the D-line, an effort needs to be made to resign both Garcon and Jackson. I fully expect we will lose one of the two, but I think a possession receiver is actually easier to find.
