Considering the SEC has won 7 straight National Championships that's a surprising line

I'll take the over all day.

My power ratings say Florida State by 16, 71 total points....so Florida State and the over I guess....thinking about a teaser.....

maybe i have an inflated opinion of the SEC because of recent history, but I wouldn't touch a line that has an SEC team giving more than a TD in the natl title game...

i think both teams score points.

Auburn gave up over 40 pts to Missouri, and if FSU has a weakness I think it's that they can be run on . BC was the only team who gave them any trouble, and they're a run first team

I have a conflicting viewpoint. Auburn appears to be a team of destiny, but Florida State is much the better team imo. And I'm an SEC guy all the way, but I thought the conference was a little down this year.

And Florida State is only giving up 3.2 ypr, while Auburn gains 6.7 ypr.....irresisible force v the immovable object. I would think FSU can make enough plays on defense to make the difference, while scoring at will themselves.

I find it hard to evaluate FSU. On the one hand they've pretty much handed everyone their ass. And they are clearly a talented team. On the other hand, I look at that schedule and the results and start to wonder what will happen to the team if they are challenged. Aside from the r*pe case, have they faced any adversity all season? If they happen to come out rusty on offense (something that happens frequently with the type of layoff they'll have), will they choke up a bit in a big spot? That's a pretty big intangible and it clearly favors Auburn. That gives me pause.

Boston College did wrack up 200 yds rushing and 34 points against them though.

No other team scored more than 17 points on them the entire year.

it makes me think if they can be beat, the best matchup would be a dominant rushing attack against their defense

BC averaged 4.7 ypr against them. Nobody else has bettered 3.4

My strategy will be as so. I already played a seven point teaser on FSU -1 and over 58. I'm waiting for both lines to go up then I will tease Auburn and the under. Going for a middle with little risk.

BC's offense is built to pound the ball, and Andre Williams is probably the best RB in the country this year. He ran for over 2100 yards and 6.4 a carry.

Boston College is a great running team, but Auburn is on a different level.

BC 2617 rushing yards 5.5 ypc 22 rushing tds

Auburn 4364 rushing yards 6.5ypc 46 rushing tds

The fact that FSU struggled vs BC makes me think they might not be their ideal matchup

They won't totally shut Auburn down. But they'll make a few more stops than Auburn's defense. Auburn has given up 24.1 ppg on the season, and Florida State is scoring 53 ppg. I see in my crystal ball something like 45-31...............

What I think will be key to this game is how fast FSU can get out in front of Auburn. While Auburn will continue to run the ball, it will be easier to keep from giving up large chunks if they can play the defense back with a 14-17pt lead.

This will be a really good matchup of opposing styles on offense.

I agree with this. The Barn's defense won't be able to stop FSU. We saw Mizzou's big receivers exploit the Auburn secondary, and FSU has similarly sized and athletic WRs.

Their skill players get overshadowed by Winston's hype, but it's the most talented group in the country. Kelvin Benjamin is outstanding. I think he's going to be a probowler in the NFL. Their TE O'Leary is just a great football player.
