Eagles @ 49'ers Pre-Game Thread

Put pressure on Foles and SF should win this game. Get his happy feet goin'. SF should have little problem running on this Birds team.

I think they'll see an uptick in runs this week for a couple reasons:

1. AZ has a stout run defense while PHI does not.
2. Our offense takes what the defense shows whether by play call or audible. A lot of audibles last week seemed to go to a pass when Kap saw 8-9 or more in the box.
3. Gore wasn't happy the way we lost last week...have to feed him the ball.
4. Maybe A.Davis comes back to help with run blocking.
5. The best defense against a high powered offense is to keep them off the field. Running will eat clock to keep it out of PHI's high octane offense.

The 9ers need to back to what has worked for them...the Ground and Pound on offense. With the addition of Hyde there is no excuse not to. As for the 9ers' D I can only say give Tank a chance here with A Smith and Bowman out. No sacks last week and a week pass rush. This won't work with the Eagles Offense. I'm a fan of Foles but not this week!

If Mathews has even a tenth of Jerry Rice, I'll be a very happy man. I admire my autographed Jerry Rice jersey everyday. I don't think we will see anyone remotely close to what he was, field or off the field. I do think Mathews will have a big game Sunday.

He had a big game last week against Washington. Right now, Matthews having a good game on Sunday is more wishful thinking than anything else. We WANT him to be the stud that he was projected to be by being drafted in the second round.

I'm going to assume that Harbaugh takes the ball when the Niners win the coin toss. In the last 2 weeks, Kelly has deferred. It would seem like a pretty good bet that the Niners will get the ball first to start the game.
