TF, I know you are no dolt, not hardly. I never thought you didn't know what you were talking about because I have known you long enough to know that you do.

They may be friends off the court but on the court is where Kobe thinks he is king. Kobe dogs the players out and jumps in their Cheerios and I feel sure that Dwight has had enough of it. That crap doesn't work on all players. I think it does work for all of the Lakers except Dwight, though. Not sure about Nash.

Howard knew Kobe was and should be King before he came to LA. What did he expect?

I'm not disagreeing, I think there is real friction between them and I agree that it is based on how each approaches the game!! During this last season, after a Laker loss, you'd see Kobe all somber and pissed off and Dwight with this "it's just a game attitude"!! There is no way that Dwight's attitude sits well with Kobe and no way that Dwight wants to be dogged by Kobe when he's just "having fun"!!

On all of the Lakers championship teams that I have personally seen play (there are 11 of them), they all had at least one guy who had that "championship or bust" attitude. In '72 it was Jerry West, in the 80's it was Magic and in the 2000's, it's been Kobe.

This is why I'm at the point where I not only don't care if Dwight stays, I'm leaning toward hoping he leaves. I want the Lakers leader to understand and buy into the idea that for the Lakers, every season, it's championship or failure!!

I think God broke the mold after He created Jerry West. There will never be another one. What a great player he was!

:agree: Gotta love the logo!! Even as an executive, he had a very difficult time watching the games. Kind of funny in a way. He would hang out in a tunnel and pace back and forth!! Wasn't even playing anymore and losses would still just about kill him!!

He was definitely one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Not much he couldn't do. And NOT winning wasn't lurking anywhere in the back of his mind. Jordan had a similar mindset, I think.

Yep!! Russell, West, Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc., etc. Seems the true greats all have a similar mindset!!

Yeah, I can't remember a resigning that I cared less about. Simply for Kobe's sake though, I hope he stays.

Exactly. Winner take all. Loser: WTH is that?

I almost typed Russell's name, too. He could do it all.

A lot of Laker fans claim to now 'couldn't care less' since they all feel he isn't staying.
Quite a different tune though then what was first being said when he signed with the Lakers.

I wonder if CBS had more Heat one and done posts or Howard will never not resign posts.

Either way, it looks like many of you are for sure 0-1 and more and more looking like 0-2.

I said that way back but yeah, we all expected him to step up and be the next great Laker big. Maybe he's just not up to the challenge. If he is truly better than what we saw last season and he is fully healthy now, he should be chomping at the bit for a chance to redeem himself with the Lakers and stop the drama about where he wants to play. I don't think Dwight even knows what he wants.

I think it is obvious that he doesn't.

That is assuming that he wanted to be in LA in the first place, which by all accounts we know wasn't even on his original trade list.

I think he knows exactly what he wants but after last seasons debacle, he just isn't sure how to communicate it, so he's just going to let the FA period play out and then go the safe route and say that those team meetings were the reason he chose whoever he chooses.

I think it comes down to this... If you truly want to resign, you hire Hollins and see if that's enough... If you don't want him stick with Dantoni try the resign if not oh well move on... For the record I want him, but I'm not live or die... He leaves, it opens many things for the Lakers... I'm not going to say he's not good now, he is still a game changer... But to run from being "the man" for the Lakers, shows how weak he is... That said, my thoughts are these...

1) fire Dantoni hire Hollins
2) try to resign Howard
3) if that doesn't happen look at amnesty and try to rebuild... (Pau or Artest)

*sigh*

I still haven't figured out WHY he wasn't traded before the deadline to begin with. The Lakers (and their fans) were just being hard headed. I think everyone with a brain saw this coming.

And please LA, take down those thirsty billboards, they reek of desperation. You are the LAKERS.....you don't beg ANY player to play for you, least of all Dwight freaking Howard

Yea TurnUp. There is some truth to what you state about Kobe. And I don't mind seeing other opinions. My feelings are going to be offended by truth. I can live with the truth whether I like it or not.

For as great as he is for as long (except now that he has had a Achilles rupture), Kobe does have an antisocial side of him that is fueled by his fierce competitveness. Fragile ego guys like D12 get too caught-up in Kobe's opinion of them rather then play to their strengths. When that side of Kobe shows up, he can be perceived as real a-hole by players and fans alike.

But again, if D12 is a bad fit for the present Lakers roster, he should walk. That is one of the purposes of FA.
KOBE BRYANT THINKS HE CAN MAKE DWIGHT HOWARD STAY IN LA.
KOBE BRYANT PLANS TO TALK WITH DWIGHT HOWARD NEXT WEEK.
HE IS WASTING HIS TIME ,DWIGHT HOWARD WILL NOT SIGN WITH THE LAKERS..PERIOD.
KOBE BRYANT WANTS TO WIN 2 MORE TITLES TO BREAK MICHAEL JORDAN"S RECORD OF 6 NBA TITLES...HE IS WASTING HIS TIME,THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN,,,HE IS WASHED UP ANYWAYS.
GOT SWEPT BY THE SPURS IN THE PLAYOFFS...BRYANT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME PLAYER,,HE ONCE Was

What if he wants to be the man somewhere else? Why is it weak not to want to play for the Lakers? Do you guys really believe this or is it just part of the Jedi mind trick stuff Howard is dealing with? If he goes to another team then wrecks the Lakers next season will he still be weak?

Well, Dwight isn't and never was "the man" for the Lakers. So all of that is a moot point.

Kobe is "the man" for the Lakers until he or Lakers' ownership decide otherwise.

Geneh is dead on.

How can Dwight run from something that doesn't exist???

Dwight was not the "MAN" last season and will not be the "MAN" in LA for a few more seasons.

Kobe has no intention of retiring or reducing his role for at least 2 more seasons.
Kobe is hardwired in his DNA to never let anyone else be the "MAN".
I think it made him violently ill and manic at times playing second fiddle to Shaquille.

Kobe never wants to be the 2nd guy again even at age 38 or 40.

Dwight is not going to wait around 3 more years to inherit the Lakers as his team.

Now if you amnesty the injured Kobe......then it changes everything...
